    https://www.tomsguide.com/us/google-suspends-huawei-android-access,news-30111.html

Google has decided under pressure from the US government to provide the Chinese smartphone maker Huawei and its daughter Honor until further notice, no Android license more and stop access to the Play Store, gmail, etc.

Of course, there is the certainly not unfounded accusation against Huawai that they (would) give the Chinese secret service access to any smartphone via a "back door" ... even if Huawai denies that and quite a few facts speak against it ... but there is up Today, conversely, this allegation against Apple and services such as Facebook, where the suspicion could not be completely refuted even today.
And soon it will be ...
In the future, the US State Department wants to oblige all visa applicants to disclose their data from social networks. This includes, for example, Facebook or Twitter usernames with current password. Applicants should also be required to provide visa applications with all e-mail addresses and phone numbers they have used in the past five years.

China has a policy that amounts to economic fascism. The line between state and corporation is so slim as to not exist.

Huawei is indeed a threat. They are for all intents and purposes a stand in for Xi.

Except that US companies have been shown to have done the same as what Huawei is being accused of, and, as the the OP states, the US government are forcing all Visa applicants to disclose exactly the same data that Huawei is suspected of disclosing. Double standards or what!

I think that Trump has already backtracked on yesterday's announcement! One day, he will have a policy that lasts more than a day. What am I saying! That would require Trump to actually think about consequences

And what about the ties of the US manufactures to the US secret services as mentioned by me?

Sure ... they deny that they exist, as Huawai denies that they exist to Chinese services ... but where is the difference please? As "truth and justice" told ... double standards or what I say ... hypocrisy?

f someone commits a burglary ... and then he himself is the victim of a burglary, then it looks quite ridiculous when he accuses the other burglar of doing burglary, eh? ;-)

And this is at so many topics the case with the US. Example? The US accuse Russia of active influence and intereference of the US elections in 2016 ... but that the US has done right the in 14 confirmed cases in other countries and also in Russia too in the past during Yelcin area... we better don't talk about...

You believe the U.S. has no right to put requirements on the issuance of visas? Does Germany issue them without requirements?

Google Ending Huawei’s Android License After Trump Order.

A lot of good that will do. China doesn't care about copyrights and licenses.

you probably should research this a bit more
    1. android are open source, just like Linux so any company can use the core IP for free, hence why Samsung, lg etc etc use android not apple OS.
    2. the ban does not affect android OS open source stuff but future update and apps such as google map, play store, youtube etc.
    3. Huawei wont be able to install those app outside of china, but user can install it manually. for example Samsung phone come with youtube app, chrome, play store with it, if it doesn't come with certain app, user can just install it.
    4. Huawei china market don't need youtube, chrome, google play store etc, since google doesn't have presentation in china. so the ban is only affect to Huawei oversea sells.
    5. Huawei is working on some kind combine OS, possibly Linux or open source android. They been prepare for this for years. Samsung has its own version of android too. This would meant if Huawei successfully implement an alternative OS to android, it will be a big hit for google.

my opinion is trump did a stupid thing. instead allow Huawei to spend $12B/year to purchase American good, which in turn those profit help US company R&D. Those $12B will now become R&D for Huawei. plus trade deficit just become $12B larger. furthermore this force china to accelerate its own semiconductor/OS R&D to be tech independent.

The key to any OS success is the ability to install and use applications. Huawei will be similar to the times Blackberry was dying - very few apps in the AppStore. It would need to open up its code and create incentives for developers to write for that system.

dont think apple open its code either, any 3rd party app require apple approval. anyway don think their market in china will be affected. as for oversea in EU/India and other parts of world, they probably will just allow people to install google apps easily on the phone. have to wait few years and see if they can do it. OS is not hard but ecosystem is hard. if they have China/India/Brazil and other developing nation, thats still huge market.

the semiconductor is a hit for them though.

I'm waiting when China makes same steps against Apple as the US does against Huawai ... and China is Apples 3rd biggest selling market with 52 billion USD! The selling slows down in China for Apple since the trade war was started by Trump!

    Well ...
China has nearly 1.4 billion people .... the US has only 350 million people. The biggest market for Huawai is China and if they start to develop their own OS with all the issues and Apps etc., we have to see and wait. Any competition to Apple and Android will be an interesting issue!

Microsoft and Blackberry couldn’t beat Apple and Android and those companies have/had nearly limitless resources at the time.

Maybe ... but neither you nor I know about the resources of Huawai ... and Microsoft and Blackberry were not in same situation as Huawai is now! ;-)

its not about beating Android, its about surviving for them. very likely they gonna target place like china/india/Russia/brazil and other developing country as their customer base, and use EU anti-monopoly law in their favor.

in the 80s japan was economic enemy, now china, next will be india. its not about japan/china/india as economy enemy, its about US dominance in tech/economy, and will do any thing to keep that dominance.
