GOP blocks House Democrats' attempt to pass $2,000 stimulus checks

That's an over-generality that ignores the current reality. In other words, it might be said that there is, or has been, a benefit to the two Parties sharing control of the federal government; namely, that it has forced COMPROMISE. But that benefit is predicated on the heretofore predictable result of both Parties doing the only practical thing and, as a necessity, being willing to compromise.

Massive government gridlock, especially at the time of a national emergency, is a much worse thing, under these circumstances, than single-Party control. No matter how sage the wisdom one is quoting, the first quote in one's book should always be, "you can't assess ongoing events merely with the recollection of a saw. Open your eyes to understand how, and if, it applies, first!"

 

Nobody cared until people were going to get direct payments.

Imagine only working two months out of the last eight then tell me how nice a whopping $600 is.

That's 1/4 of my take-home pay in a given pay period. That's trash, and does nothing for anyone who is months behind on their bills.

Trump don't want the foreign money. He publicly stated that so I don't care what your link says. Only ones pushing for the foreign money is the Democrats.

Several countries get more money than Israel but yes I agree the Democrats could care less for Israel. Both parties probably requested money to foreign countries and it was a mistake.

Trump vetoed the defence bill and left the others sitting on his desk. He asked for 4 things to be done including removing the foreign money and bigger stimulus checks.

He is not the problem here. He is trying to fix it.

The bill was not passed until now. Trump can't take a stand if there is nothing to take a stand against.

If your referring to all of the stuff in the bill it's crazy that everyone only gets a few hours to read 5,000+ pages.

Without both parties all power would go to a single party. That would be a mistake. Countries with a single power are far worse than America. We had a national emergency since the summer. Both parties need to compromise here.
