It didn’t start with the dossier, but the problem is it started at all! Even if they cling ever so desperately to pub-gate, the fact is A: Both Papadoupolis and Downer have contested the FBI’s version of events and B: Even if it were true, it’s hearsay and therefore unreliable!

Aka: Horowitz’s “low threshold” excuse, let’s be blunt there’s not a police agency in the US that would’ve opened Crossfire Hurricane.

A very simple way to look at this nonpartisanly would be to say Mr.Strozk
did you EVER follow up with either Papadoupolis or Downer in 2016? Wait, no? Then your so called investigation was screwed from the start!

Bro, in a real investigation they would acknowledge they heard hearsay, try to confirm or deny that hearsay and when it’s proven false to close the case. We know that didn’t happen as they didn’t bother ANY verification until at least Special Counsel Mueller.

Hearsay doesn't count during an investigation. This isn't a court of law and a diplomat is given a higher plane of belief as a witness to events...

You'll have to link that Downer "contested the FBI’s version of events" because I cannot find that.

Crossfire Hurricane ALSO didn't open exclusively because of the Downer/Coffee Boy story. That's as false as the Steele Dossier opened the investigation.

 

Isn't that what was written in Strozok's notes? So, they chose a new starting point and/or story? I admit to not knowing the new story so you can elighten me there, but we can acknowledge that shifting stories and untruthful testimony is unbecoming of the FBI.

It's not about plane of belief, it's about common sense during an investigation. I'll repeat myself: No police agency or even a private investigator would touch this with a 10 ft pole. And I'll elaborate deeper if I may. While it's not illegal to enquire of course, the investigator is normally limited to inquiring untill they develop further evidence for a search warrant which then if they find more(IE: Enough to make an arrest) then you get to the point of an arrest warrant.

However all of that is federal court and GJ work, which we know the FBI bypassed with FISA, A Nazi-inspired court that's a relic of failed suggestions by the Church Committee in response to Watergate wherein the defense isn't present or even made aware of the accusations against him/her, but don't worry they swear in affdavit that they absolutely didn't hide evidence that would weaken their case....hahaha(as many as 17 times according to IG Horowits).

So quick recap: They got loose tips on what could loosely be described as a crime, not only did they fail to interview the suspect for a year and a half(Papadoupolos). They also failed to gather evidence by other means including the aforementioned moles that if you remember they once tried to deny existed then once that lie wasn't plausible anymore, they laughably tried to claim it was for Trump's own good only to forget that captain Jackass(Comey) and his FBI never briefed Trump as a candidate and even more disgustingly as President.

When they failed to even investigate the claims, they should've closed the case. They didn't. When they finally did bother to investigate and thanks to Mr. Dowd got 1.1 million pieces of evidence and STILL couldn't find anything, nada to prove the claims(dizzying as it is to remember, it was that the Trump Campaign colluded with the Russians). It took them until late 2019 to close the case, but evidence has emerged that it was a deliberate time lag, to goad Trump into their cute "10 instances of obstruction" Which require a separate analysis all on their own. If you want to go there, we can but when we do, just remember it never happens if the FBI ran a prompt, even halfway decent investigation.
