Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer gave a tepid, droning, and utterly unconvincing performance on the Senate floor this morning where he repeatedly inserted the phrase, “the Trump shutdown.” The problem for Mr. Schumer is two-fold: First, very few watched his speech. Yes, CNN, MSNBC, etc., will replay it a few times, but none of those replays will generate as much interest as a single Trump tweet. Second, and this is even more critical, the phrase “Schumer Shutdown” is trending throughout Social Media circles – a development which has Mr. Schumer’s staff increasingly troubled. He doesn’t want to be the one shackled with the blame for the shutdown – the Establishment Media was supposed to make certain that was done to President Trump.
For now – it’s not, and Senator Schumer is none too happy about it.
The Democrats, and their media cohorts, once again have vastly underestimated the scope of POTUS Trump’s support system, likely because that support is truly grass-roots and comes from a Silent Majority the D.C. elite have no understanding of – and despise.

If you use the Google search engine and enter the words "Schumer Shutdown" and hit enter. You'll find 568,000 results.
So it appears that it's been another failed action by Chuckie and the Democrats.
I’m beginning to be encouraged by the backbone Republicans that are suddenly showing. I attribute it to President Trump and thank him for that. He’s teaching them how its done!
In simple truth, many Americans can’t believe that little Chucky was on the tube this morning saying that “Americans and THE WORLD are calling this the 'Trump shutdown'.” I think the boy needs to have his urine tested. He really acts like he’s been using an illicit drug of some sort. Perhaps his physician has prescribed something that has altered his reasoning.

    I'm not surprised.

I believe the next phase of the Dems plan to build talking points will be for Schumer to agree to pull his DACA nonsense in order to get the CR passed.

They then will hit all the talk shows and feed talking points to their media partners stating how they were forced by need to keep the government operating, and that the refusal to pass the CR with DACA attached proves Republicans hate immigrants.

To me, it appears this whole thing is a game, well planned and thought out. The Dems have no plans to resolve DACA or any other illegal alien issue. This is an election year, and they are up against really good economic results from the President's 1st year in office.

It's definitely a "game." It's a game dems will lose BECAUSE they are playing party politics and everyone knows it.

Dems are marching in lock-step with each other as they go over a cliff. Republicans aren't as unified because they are doing what their OWN constituents what them to do, stand up to dems, and have been winning elections since 2010.

Even when you look at the 2013 shutdown, republicans were blamed, HOWEVER it was what the people wanted them to do and that was to stand up to Obama and gov spending. Republicans gained 9 SENATE SEATS a year later.

It isn't who is to blame. It's who is doing what the people want and republicans have been doing that since 2010.

I can't stand Schumer, but he knows the entire country is aware that he is responsible for the shut down so now he just can't cave in because it would mean he shut the government down for nothing. Schumer needs to walk away with something so he can save face, maybe Trump can throw him some sort of inconsequential bone that he can play up as a huge victory.

He can walk away with the dog whistle that Republicans hate immigrants, but his love of country forced him to keep vital government services operating.

    That's my take.

Sorry but, personal contact with Chuck Schumer for more than three decades, his Marxist Socialist ideology outweighs his love of America.

It's all on Schumer's shoulders, and I don't just mean the blame.

He's also one of the few democrats who have the intelligence to actually think and develop a strategy. Meanwhile he's surrounded by people like Pelosi and Waters who have the IQ of tepid water.

The funny thing is, when he tries to do that, he is both not convincing us and pissing off his rabid left base who hate the country.

Schumer isn't dumb. He's one of the few democrats that isn't.

I can't stand his ideology, but he isn't stupid.

You may be neglecting the negative effect of Trump's persona on the upcoming midterms. Granted a booming economy usually gives the party in power an edge. It might not this time. The good news if the GOP in the generic congressional polling have narrowed the gap from 10-12 points depending on the poll down to 8-10. The economy and perhaps voters going with the phrase "The Schumer Shutdown," over the "Trump shutdown." Although it's too early to tell about the latter.

I think most folks that aren't that partisan know that adding DACA to the budget process is what caused the shutdown. Adding something that hasn't a thing to do with the budget. Hence, "The Schumer shutdown," is gaining momentum. But give it a few more days and we'll know for certain.

From the utterly unexpected failure of Hillary Clinton to become president to the fact that Trump is still president and still supported by the people who elected him one year later the Leftist-Allied Mainstream Media have failed to deliver the political goods for the DNC for the first time in a very long time. The problem for the DNC and their affiliated politicians and power brokers is that they have become cripplingly dependent on the bulk of the MSM shaping the perceptions of citizens for them.

Schumer fully expected for the nation to BELIEVE the Leftist-allied MSM when they told the nation that Trump and the Right were at fault for the government shut down; but the problem is that the entire nation is no longer wholly dependent (and perhaps no longer even primarily dependent) on the alphabet broadcast networks and their leftist media spin off outlets to tell them what to think. But since Schumer expected the MSM to again bail out the Left, he and his fellow Left of Center leaders haven't developed any sort of backup plan. They have become intellectually lazy, and it shows.
