When their pride gets in the way of their duties, yes you may have a point.

I think that is an over reaction on their part. It was one thing to push the older gentleman, but they should seen their mistake and immediately rendered assistance. When the police over react then that is going to manifest onto others making all situations tenuous.

They merely resigned from the assignment, not the police department to symbolize as some kind of unity. Immunity from the law is the problem here. All officers should be required to have private liability insurance and carry all the risk just like doctors, or drivers.

In watching the Mayor of Buffalo's discussion of this matter, he said that they were engaged in a 'maneuver' for crowd control. They are trained not to stop. There are EMTs embedded in the cluster, and they will see to the injured.

I just find it hard to believe that any of us would just walk past someone needing attention. They all looked at him, but kept walking. A trained maneuver or not, it makes for a very bad look.

He was told to move back 10 times. But he was going to be a leftist hero and defy the cops.

Hopefully the police will be disbanded in your neighborhood. The sooner the better.

When they get zero backing to do their job they tend to opt out.

Good to see that the Cops were charged with Felony Assault.

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn announced Saturday that officers Robert McCabe and Aaron Torgalski are facing one count each of second-degree assault for their roles in the incident. Both officers have pleaded not guilty.
Flynn said the severity of the charge, which carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison, is partly due to the age difference between the protester and the men charged. In the video, the officers shove and injure Martin Gugino, 75, outside of City Hall as their fellow officers walk past.
"It's black and white in the letter of the law," Flynn told a news conference. "It says right there, anyone who's a victim 65 years or older and the perpetrator is [at least] 10 years younger — it's a felony."

So you shove an old man to the ground and do not render aid while he bleeds from the ear?

57 members have resigned in protest from this task group to show solidarity to the clown who used excessive force, thinking they will return to their normal jobs, I say terminate them. They're thugs. They wanna be bad assed violent street thugs, then get the hell out of our uniform.

That badge and uniform are reserved for the very best in courage, integrity and character, and these folks aren't that.

No sympathy for the old man. He was looking for a confrontation and refused to do what was asked 10 times.

They resigned from the special unit. They’re now regular police officers.

The Cops are lucky that they didn't get charged with Attempted Murder.

The old commies walks into a police line in an aggressive manner and gets a slight push back from the cop whom you brand a violent street thug. Well WTF do you call rioters burning down cities. Good Democrats?

Yes he wasn't violently pushed, but he was pushed and at 75 balance starts to become an issue for many. What you seem to be forgetting is how the cops just walked right by when clearly he was bleeding from the head. Would you care to defend that as well?

One of the signs of a modern day liberal is extreme hyperbole. A little push is not attempted murder. Now your left wing buddies setting a building on fire that is occupied. That is attempted murder.

Has nothing to do with his political affiliation, it's the retards that pretend that we have multiple levels of basic rights based on our political beliefs. We are ONE People, with ONE law, applied WITHOUT favor.
You are using the language of the Left Wing propagandists, the 80 year old in street clothes is "aggressive" while the fully outfitted in riot gear and weapons, in his prime, top physical condition, and in group, nearly SIXTY strong, acts in a "slight" manner. ... Yet his "slight" action knocked him to the ground and left him bleeding from the ear which indicates a concussion. A Concussion is felony level force, which is excessive when policing misdemeanor behavior. That's proper use of force 101.
He misused OUR authority, showed no remorse, did not act to render aid, and then 57 other thugs doubled down in solidarity. They resigned from the task force because of proper discipline, yeah, get the hell out of our uniform.
You've lost your way in the discussion. That has nothing to do with this.

Back to proper use of force:
    (a) Deadly force means that force which a reasonable person would consider likely to cause death or serious bodily harm. Its use may be justified only under conditions of extreme necessity, when all lesser means have failed or cannot reasonably be employed.
    10 CFR § 1047.7 - Use of deadly force. | CFR | US Law | LII ...

And yes, if these bastards won't follow the law, they need to be stripped of their gun, badge and uniform. That's not a tough concept. I'm not clear on why you are struggling with it.

He was stationary for 3 seconds before being pushed. Why the lie?
