There's no city in Florida that approaches the levels of homelessness you see in San Francisco or LA. I don't know what that's relevant. The purpose of this thread is to talk about why Texas is doing so well, not tear down other states.

Exactly. People here can’t help but bring FL into any discussion about how terrible a state is, when they have no clue.

It's all they have. New Yorkers need to lash out at the states that are "stealing" their economic and political relevance.

Wow, so they found oil in the ground……Please explain how that is a political win for anyone ? Their number one product is a NATURAL resource !

Property/sales come from the personal taxes since they dont have a corporate tax, and they are heavily in the federal teat.

The top 3 stars in the federal teat are:
    • California ($116.0 billion)
    • New York ($79.2 billion)
    • Texas ($68.2 billion)

Oil and gas is the fourth largest sector in the Texas economy son. That means if you eliminated it entirely, Texas' GDP would still be bigger than New York's.

I'm not sure why you're bumping a six month old thread. It sounds like you want things to be bad for us.

I can't help but notice there's not a blue state within half of texas and it's still red as red gets. Now I'll give the blue states major credit for the most crime not prosecuted but committed and most homeless. Takes a special kind of stupid to bull those off.

I say this all the time. Texas democrats are more conservative than California Republicans. The left has been predicting blue Texas since the 2008 election, and it doesn't appear to be getting any closer.

    According to what, or who?

    Can you provide some examples?

    Sounds made up.

Nice to see that Biden’s economy is doing so well across most of the country.

Sure, they have room to grow. Maybe one day they will get to where California is. Also, I guess Biden is good for Texas...And what's going on with Ronnie in Florida? Growing at the same rate as California? Huh. The rest of the red states look not so great on growth save a couple. Of course 5.3, 5.2 and 5.5% of not much isn't very much, OK, WY, and ND. I would say the same of my home state of New Mexico honestly.

You also left off Alaska. It BEAT Texas! Surprising given Biden has killed all oil production and that's the main, pretty much the only, driver of the Alaskan economy. Huh. I guess Biden is good for Alaska too?

Hey fellow New Mexican here - I think that makes at least 4 of us... Anyway, my home town is absolutely exploding right now.

Who's talking about Florida? My thread is about Texas, and it's leaving the rest of the nation in the dust in terms of growth. You should be happy you're in New Mexico. It's growth is being powered by its proximity to Texas. College students from UT, Texas Tech, and A&M visit Taos, Ruidoso, and Red River during spring break and help grow the state's economy. We graduate and the state's prosperity allows us to spend our ski trips in Colorado or Vancouver, but your little state is fun when we're young. It's one of the many examples of how Texans make your lives better.

I was talking about Florida, that's who. And that's all that matters.

As for New Mexico, I don't live there anymore. But I agree, New Mexico does like Texans to spend their money in our ski areas...proving that they can't ski. I mean, no mountains, no snow, stick with football, the tight pants only show how manly you guys are. But it's hilarious. "Martha, it's easiey this-a wayyyaiiee!" And then Wayne comes to a sudden aboral stop. Slays. Every. Time.

I suppose one day Texas will get over its California envy. One day. But not too soon, it too is great for entertainment.

    Lol.

The lefties too dense to realize they are fleeing the repercussions of their own policies.

News flash. If people keep going to nice places and they turn to **** over and over, at what point do people finally realize they are the ones bringing the **** with them?

If we don't use natural resources, what benefit do they bring? What good is it? What is good about leaving it in the ground?

Well since you're willing to admit you can't address the OP I'll allow it.

Well you guys don't have money to spend in your ski areas. If you're a 19 year old petroleum engineering student living in Austin, New Mexico is great. Ski all day, drink all night. Don't fret son. We buy Epic Passes every year now. I'll spend my money in Colorado too. I'd hate for you to not get a piece of our prosperity.

No envy. We're just out here living our best lives. All I did was start a thread about our growth. You're trying to discredit that. Tell me again who's envious?

Im not disagreeing with that. The point is that the "natural resource" is not something that is "produced" it is something that occurs naturally. In that state, there are approx 440,000 people in that industry in Texas. That resource does very little for the people of Texas.

    Uh, I disagree.

Take any natural resource and there is a tremendous amount of effort and labor to extract it, mine it, drill it, transport it, refine it, mill it, and prepare it for manufacturing or use.

440,000 is not a large number compared to what is “extracted”.
