From the Guardian: Guns but not votes: Republican fealty to the constitution is completely one-eyed

    Excerpt:
Well worth the read for anybody duly concerned with "Where-in-hell is democracy going in the the US of A ... ?"

Nothing new here. Over the years, Republicans have become ever more effective demagogues.

Not sure what is meant (in the America context) by "demagogues". It's definition is dead simple:
As a Prime Example of the species I nominate Donald Dork ... !

How is it hard to vote? If you are a legal citizen, you register to vote, go to the voting booth, present your valid ID, and vote. It's that simple...

Have you read the law Republicans are passing in Georgia
    to restrict voting.

Specifically what "identity" would you say it restricts? Do they apply to everyone equally? I would say if they do, it is fair play! Or is there "white privilege" involved? Do these restrictions reply only to minorities and whitey gets off the hook? I really want to know! Is there some way Marxist/ Democrats are singled out so their vote doesn't count? How does this intended conspiracy actually work?
You know the media pumps out words like "restrict voting" but they never explain exactly how a group is singled out specifically and restricted!

I believe it should be more difficult to vote than to buy a gun. Or at least, I would not have a problem with that if I were Supreme Dictator running everything.
It undermines the entire foundation of democracy if you can't have some reasonable surety it was a legitimate vote.

If anyone could cast a vote without any verification whatsoever, it would make the society fall apart a lot faster than if any adult-looking person could buy a gun without any verification. There may be problems, but the society would not fall apart. (It might start resembling the Wild West era in American history)

I can see arguments being made both ways, but the fact is, at least some level of verification for voting is completely essential.

I also think it's completely disingenuous that anyone is trying to claim that it is the situation anywhere in the US that voting is more difficult than buying a gun.

Will the Left condemn the requirement to show ID to exercise a right?

    found this satirical article:

    https://babylonbee.com/news/gun-shop-asks-for-id-in-clear-case-of-2nd-amendment-suppression

Macon, GA - In a clear case of targeted 2nd Amendment suppression, the clerk behind the counter at Yippee Kay Yay Firearms has asked a gun purchaser to show his identification.

"You don't need to see my identification," said store patron Willard VonCarlton, who was trying to purchase a shotgun and a revolver. "I'm an American! It's my God-given right to own a firearm!"
The clerk was unmoved. "Yeah I get all that, I just need to verify you are the same guy written on this paperwork," he said.
    "RACISM!" said VonCarlton...
