The fact that you can't characterize this mans actions as anything more than shoving should give you a giant clue as to whether deadly force was warranted. And I'm not against the second amendment. I'm a gun owner. And I've actually lost friends and family to gun violence so I understand the importance of self defense. This doesn't meet it.

 

Then, as now, a life could have been saved if only the angry man had kept his hands to himself...

It sounds as though your friends and family were the aggressors and got shot for assaulting others. Is that the gist of it?

 

My uncle was tied up, shot and left for dead in a home invasion, that was in Jamaica though. My cousin in miami was shot in the chest leaving wis girlfriends house when someone tried to jack his car. He's alive though. Another friend was shot in the hand when he struggled with someone who jumped in his car and tried to car jack him at a red light, also miami. And I had a friend shot during an argument with two other people. One started shooting and he took a round in the liver while he was in the back seat.

 

i could watch this video all day. The assauler got what he deserved. You can kill someone pushing them down like that. I really liked how he grabbed his chest in pain. Criminals getting what they deserve ...luv it.

A colt 1911, single stacked because it's a bloody 1911 and m&p in 22 for target practice because shooting the 45 gets expensive. I've been around guns all my life though. My neighbor had a bullet press and me and brothers spent summers making bullets so we could use them on them on the range.

I'll give you that. Man looked old in that video. Hunched. If the article never mentioned his age I'd guess late 60's.

 

Looked like, to me, the only reason the attacker didn't press the attack further was because the victim presented his firearm.

Once he presented his firearm, he had little choice but to shoot his assailant, or try to hold all the hostiles at gunpoint until the cops arrived.

 

probably why he was angry about people parking in the handicap. Good shot on his part though.

No not really bothered that dude came up and attacked that man for no real reason. Violently assaulted him.

 

Its people like you two who will ensure ever increasing gun control in this country. This was a tragic event. A father lost his life, a man may go to prison and all over a parking space. The taking of another life should only be done when absolutely necessary, not just because which is why I have a lot of respect for what the sheriff said. "Just because you can doesnt mean you should". That's clearly a man who values and respects human life, unlike you two. One is no doubt watching the video with a hand down his pants and the other thinks so little of human life that holding them until the cops get there is to much trouble, better just to shoot them. I support the second amendment but I support it a little less because of people like you.

 

No I disagree after he shoved that man down which could have caused serious bodily harm he was gearing up for another attack. He was still approaching him until the gun came out

so if someone comes up and attacks you like that with enough Force to knock you down and after knocking you down keeps coming up on you ready to attack some more you don't think there's a reasonable fear for life?

I disagree it's reasonable for a man who was just tackled out of the blue to believe a man that tackled him and is moving toward him after he fell it's going to cause him serious harm.

 

I disagree the shooter was in the right the attack didn't persist because the attacker had a bullet in his guts.

 

It looks to me like he's actually moving away until the gun is drawn and then he turns back. Watch his shoulders. Even the sheriff says theres a few seconds between shove and gunshot when the guy is just standing there. That hardly fits your description of sustained assault.

 

well it looks to me like he was gearing up to go after the man again. Was he finished attacking the man? If so how do you know?

And what was he just standing there doing talking to him about the last football game?

He didn't seem to stop at advancing until after the gun was drawn. And that would make perfect sense

 

He's clearly moving away before he even notices the gun, but look, I'm not interested in debating the color of the sky with you. The sheriff who thinks the man was in the right legally still thinks the shot was unnecessary.

That isn't moving away, he hitched up his britches... Wonder what for?

ETA: I watched it again and angry man took two more steps toward the shooter and hitched up his britches, only moving backward once the gun was presented...

 

If your wondering then you ain't certain and if you're taking a human life you should be certain its absolutely necessary.

I was intubating the color of the sky I was debating the events in the video. Maybe you were confused

if the sheriff thought the shooter was in a purple gorilla I wouldn't really care what people think doesn't matter.
