ALL my life minus 7 years in hell hot N.C.

Born in Chicago (Beverly/Morgan Park). Dad was a Chicago cop so we had to stay in city limits.
Married in Mount Prospect, bought first house in Schaumburg.
Edited to add: IL - Divorced, living about 25 minutes from Wisconsin border.

You just made me so hungry! LOL I miss Chicago food SO MUCH. I used to travel for work and have yet to eat anywhere in the country that is comparable to Chicago. There have been "close" to the bar, but nothing has exceeded it. I got so desperate in N.C. that I begged one restaurant to FedEx me some of their food. No joke. They didn't. ;-(

So you are probably a deep dish guy, eh? I'm thin crust, all the way, and squares. I do not acknowledge any reference to deep dish as being Chicago style.

    :)

BTW - MARS was just 5-minutes over the border, and the soup was amazing!!! Sometimes after a visit to Great America!!!!

The pizza set up place we used to go to as a kid has finally started delivering. I now almost always have sauce, crust, sausage & cheese available to create something delicious, in my freezer.

So wildly off topic, but hopefully that's allowed in the creativity section!!! LOL.

I love deep dish and thin crust. We used to go to Connie's for our birthdays. They just opened a Rosati's in my town. I tried Beggar's and Vince's in this past year and they are pretty good too. As far as I am concerned, you cannot go *wrong* with a Chicago pizza.

Ah, we did Great America every year. Talk about yummy food. We needed all that walking after the 45,987 calories we consumed. LOL

We should be fine. Chicago and creativity are synonymous! But, just in case...

On topic...I really miss knowing ALL the neighbors on the block and being safe with any of them. We were never "alone" even when our parents weren't home. I couldn't name five people in my neighborhood now. ;-( That loss of connection is a hefty price to pay for technological advancements.

Yes. If I couldn't personally say I knew a neighbor, we knew their last names, at least, and within a several block radius. There was always that one house.... just skip it by on Halloween, dear..... who knows what that was about.

Everyone knew everyone.... what is John's girl doing way over here? Anyone know John's number?

    Yeah. Good times.

Ah, yeah...that one house. Oh, the tales they would tell.

Our immediate next door neighbor owned the corner candy store (remember those?). She wouldn't let us get candy if it was before dinner time. Another one loved to bake pies and her husband fixed our bike chains when they fell off. The ice cream truck came through a few times a day. We had a choice of chocolate and vanilla. That was it! Oh, and we were allowed to have lemonade stands (can't believe people got those boycotted). It almost feels like it's a totally different dimension now that I'm writing about it.

Remember when we were just sent outside to play? Cars with no car seats. We rode our bikes without being wrapped in bubble wrap. I don't know how we all survived!!! LOL

P.S. I was pleasantly surprised when they opened Five Below. They sell nostalgic candies. Yum!

Last week I polished off anther crock pot full of Italian beef, si fam good! probably one if the reasons my blood work came in a little wonky but it was worth it. Its actually quite easy to make if you have a crock pot or insta-pot.
