One of the scary things about reincarnating with lots of power is that we may well tend to abuse that power???!!!!

Besides.......by the time that you come back we might be in the middle of some sort of revolution.....and you know how well Earl's tend to do during some of those???!!!

Nah…… I prefer the friends and family that have been given to me this time around…….. I am not worthy of this awesome bunch!

I don't blame you for your skepticism but doctors like Ian Stevenson and Walter Semkiw have invested so much time and effort into researching cases similar to hers that unless Dr. Semkiw was extremely impressed by Barbro……. he would not put her in the spotlight.

Thank you for using the word please here.

I have gotten the impression that Dr. Ian Stevenson sincerely felt that this type of research had the potential to greatly improve the science of psychology and psychiatry.

From what I have seen of his work so far Walter Semkiw M. D. impresses me as being as sincere, or nearly as sincere, as Dr. Ian Stevenson.

Margot2, do you have any friends or family members who have been wondering if they have memories of a traumatic past life?

I dunno, reincarnation has always struck me as not only silly but a little macabre. Like we're all dead people walking about.

Also there's a numbers problem. Something like a quarter of all people who have ever lived are living now. What will happen to souls in future generations if the population becomes much lower, as seems likely? As the number of births decreases, where will they go, and what about the souls of this huge generation, there won't be enough bodies for a thousand years or more

Good questions...… a near death experiencer gave one of the most logical answers to this that I have ever read.

Ever hear of the ladder of sentient beings or the 6 realms? You have gods or heavenly beings, Titans and demons, hungry ghosts, animals, the denizens of hell and human beings. One can be reborn into any of these realms, move up and down them. Life is a cycle of birth, death, rebirth, death etc. There is also no time frame as to the time between dying and being reborn.

There are other things such as the wheel of time and that everything is impermanent.

Maybe in a thousand years i'll meet an elegant matriarch of a family of matchless hunters and a brief flash of recognition will come and go. I only hope she's forgiven me for moving her from her favorite chair on the last night of her life. I truly had no idea she was that sick

Seriously though, the idea of humans being animals and vice versa is another area where reincarnation falls down for me. It wouldn't be fair to turn perfect creatures of total innocence into the flawed and evill beings we humans are and few of us would have the makings of a decent dog or cat.

I know very little about the possibility of a human being reincarnating as an animal or vice versa. I am in no position to rule this out as a possibility but Helen Wambach Ph. D. did not run into any cases in her research that she mentioned.

Some would become dogs and cats. One can move up and down the ladder depending on what type of karma you built up and how much. The thing is one strives for enlightenment as one passes through one life after the other until one achieves it. Once one achieves enlightenment, that ends the cycle of birth, death and rebirth. It puts the end to suffering as life in itself is suffering.

Mrs. Jan Price certainly did have an amazingly positive NDE with her previously deceased dog?!

This one is my daughter's all time favourite NDE account.

Does anyone have an alternative explanation why some children can remember past lives? It is something that has happened many times. And are there cases where the life remembered wasn't someone of note? Or do just the well known dead appear again?

I have entertained the idea for years that reality is in constant evolution, the universe evolves, life evolves, souls evolve. Perhaps evolution in all areas takes place to keep ahead of entrophy. That seems to be Tom Campbell's idea on the subject. And that souls evolve and reincarnate towards Love, instead of fear. A movement from fear into love. This idea of reincarnation is one of the oldest ideas, and what we know of as reality is just a school for souls to evolve. If one wants to believe in something, this seems much more civilized than believing in an eternal hell, where an all good god tortures people forever and ever as they writhe in the most unimaginable pain and suffering.

But when an organized religion like Hinduism believes in reincarnation and karma it can yield a society that doesn't care for its poor, as Rupert Sheldrake the English biologist discovered in India, in the 1960s when he had moved there to help out India in providing food crops for its large population. Sheldrake specialized in plants. When he was asked by Hindus why he was there working on better seeds, he of course said he wanted science to contribute to solving the problem of food in India, so the poor might not starve. This amused those Hindus, and asked him why he should concern himself with the poor, that their status in life was their own doing, their karma, and he should only concern himself with his own enlightenment. Now Sheldrake was an atheist, but being raised up in England, he had a sense of the Christian tradition of loving one's neighbor, and of helping the poor. And eventually Sheldrake joined the Anglican Church, as he slowly saw that science just could not answer those age old questions man has always asked.

The point I am making is religions also evolve, towards love, and while Christianity has its own sordid history, it is one of the religions that has a foundation, in the Teachings of Christ, that is really concerned with love, and loving the other, and caring for the poor. For if a person really loved his neighbor, would he not care for him, if he were poor, to the best of his ability? Yet I think Sheldrake believes in reincarnation, or at least gives it a great possibility as being true. And there are traditions in ancient Christianity that did believe in reincarnation, the journey of the souls towards love and light.

So I think even Christianity has such a lost tradition, stifled out by orthodoxy of Paul.

Religious people on the other hand who believe dogmatically in soul sleep...… will tend to think that the Helen Wambach Ph. D. research as well as the Dr. Ian Stevenson research can be explained by some form of possession or influence by a discarnate ghost or demon, who does have knowledge of other time periods........ but...… is lying in order to get people to believe in what they think of as a false doctrine.......... reincarnation!
