House Republicans joined Democrats in condemning Trump’s actions in Syria

Congress is pushing back on Trump’s decision to withdraw US troops from Syria.

    https://www.vox.com/2019/10/16/20917841/house-republicans-democrats-condemn-trump-action-in-syria

2/3rds of Republicans in the house have gone against Trump on this one. Is there infighting among Red Establishment ?

Trump had to veto congress over Yemen - some Republicans sided with the Dem's - enough to pass both houses - but not a majority as above.

Trump vetoes Yemen War Powers Resolution, his 2nd veto since taking office

Is this business as usual or is there something else going on here ?

The rinos were never with trump in the first place. Standing up to evil is hard. Siding with evil is easy. Any Republican that joins the Democrats will be praised and admired by them. They will get 15 minutes.

The last people I would want singing my praises are Democrats. Then I would know that I was a failure and a traitor to my nation.

Can the republicans win elections without Trump's supporters? That's the pivotal question.

imo they cannot even survive as a party going forward without Trump's supporters.

They got the ball. Do they have enough sense to do anything with it.

The Republicans that fight the hardest will be rewarded and the cowards and rinos will be shamed. This is a great opportunity for up and coming conservative leaders to separate themselves from the pack. Glory and honor await those who are brave enough to fight for it.

Neocons were never Trump fans anyway. A few of then like Graham released from McCain's over riding shadow moved in Trump's direction after the Kavanaugh hearings recognizing it for the nasty piece of bloody shirt histrionics on the part of Democrats that it was but there are a huge number of things that Trump and they do not agree on endless warfare being one of them.

Are those RINOs the same Republicans that for decades argued against so many of the issues that Trump supports? Aren't they the ones who did a course reversal in 2016, going against much of the Republican platform? The RINO label seems to have lost much of it's meaning.

Demographics in general don’t look the best for the right.

Ah yes... demographics... the Democrats see a Mexican and think... "there's a Mexican, bet he's for open borders, loves abortion, and votes for Democrats... you know... because he's a Mexican"

By demographics I was referring to age and political affiliation, but ethnicity is definitely going to present issues for the right, as will declining religious ideology.

If Texas turns blue Republicans will never win another presidential election again with their current platform.

So you figure this is just business as usual - and not a Red Establishment revolt of sorts.

I realize there was a number of anti Trumper's on the Red side - initially. They seem however to have fallen in line and generally support Trump. I wonder if that support is waning.

I agree but, the left keeps avoiding giving the voter something to vote for. Sure you have the regular platitudes - but nothing substantive.

A rino is worth far more to the globalist then a Democrat in a seat. RINOs lie about who they are to fool people into supporting them, but side with the globalist at every turn. They back stab when they can, and Democrats point to them to justify their own actions. Knowing who the rinos are nullifies this advantage.

My main concerns are healthcare, personal rights, fiscal policy, education and ending illegal immigration.

Needless to say I don't really like any of the options.

I consider the vast majority of Red Establishment to be RINO's The term "Globalist" means different things to different people. The Establishment - be it Red or Blue - side with the big money interests that pull the strings in our nation's Pay to Play system.

There is no one cabal - or star chamber .. there are numerous big money interests and sometimes these conflict with each other. These conflicts can be seen in the "Hot Button" issues - immigration, Guns, Abortion and so on.

The real Goblin in the mix is not found by looking at where the Establishment disagrees - but on what they agree. The big money interests in general do not care much about the Hot Button issues ... they care about money - power -and maintaining the status quo - keeping the citizens from gaining power and upsetting the apple cart.

You sound like a trump supporter now. Welcome aboard. Healthcare as you know it will not survive Democrat rule.

Raise your hand if you want Americans to pay for the healthcare and welfare of any foreign national that makes it to America...

I would add "oligopolism/crony capitalism" to the list .. and don't like any of the options either.

Unfortunately the right doesn't care about fiscal policy, healthcare, personal rights outside guns and religion or doing anything about the illegals already in the country — and they view education as evil...
And I don’t see myself ever being a trump supporter. He is too vulgar and impulsive (not to mention openly corrupt)

Tulsi is the most sane. which isn't saying much.

Yang's 1000 a month to everyone on earth is probably a dumb idea. If he wants that plan to work he better build the wall even taller and heavily fund ICE. Even then it will just go broke and a dollar will be become worthless. Also a globalist Democrat desire...

    Many are turning against Trump.

Another witness in the impeachment inquiry is openly defying the White House and testifying after being told not to.

The Times reports, "Gordon D. Sondland, the United States ambassador to the European Union, told House impeachment investigators on Thursday that President Trump delegated American foreign policy on Ukraine to his personal lawyer, Rudolph W. Giuliani, a directive that he said he disagreed with but nonetheless followed.

"Mr. Sondland, a Trump campaign donor who has emerged as a central figure in the Ukraine scandal, testified under subpoena that he did not understand until later that Mr. Giuliani’s goal may have been an effort “to involve Ukrainians, directly or indirectly, in the president’s 2020 re-election campaign.'"

“We were also disappointed by the president’s direction that we involve Mr. Giuliani,” Sondland told congressional investigators.

Sondland testified that Giuliani drew a direct link between scheduling a White House visit for Ukraine’s newly elected president and demands that Ukraine prioritize investigations targeting Trump’s political rivals, including former Vice President Joe Biden.

The circle is closing on Trump. Maybe even the Trump Republicans in the Senate will start to take notice.

But I doubt it. Their allegiance is not to Americans and the Constitution. Their allegiance is to Trump.
