Let's see, annual cost of medical care for 2015 was $3.2 trillion, and:

That would leave the government about $2 trillion short over what it currently spends for healthcare. Income tax would have to more than double to foot that bill. Any more great ideas?

Seems the government only collected $234.2 billion in 2015, some $2.9658 billion short to cover Medicare for all. Now with Hospital Insurance being a combined 2.9% of payroll, that would require an increase to 36.72% of payroll to meet expenses. 36.72% and there is still income tax and Social Security.

To put this all in perspective, Americans currently spend approximately 50% of income for all the various taxes. Now add the new requirements for HI of an additional 16.91% for your new medical cost. Don't forget that your employer would also be expected to come up with their half of the HI tax, yeah another 16.9% of payroll.

I extrapolated the data in a different manner and came up with a larger increase. But it can't be denied the impact will be huge when it is considered the large number not paying anything at all.

So what you are actually saying it that you have no clue and was hoping someone would tell you as it's too much effort to find out yourself. Sort of like Medicaid, can't do yourself so require someone else to do it.

I appreciate your honesty. Truth be told, I think that most conservatives would be just fine with that system.

Must be one of the newer editions, mine doesn't look like that at all. But then I've had my copy for more than 40 years. This plus the bible (no I'm not religious just without sound philosophy you would be...) were the guides to my life.

    Wrong again.

And they are entitlements meaning they were paid for unlike welfare.

Medicaid is a Federal Program administered by the States. The Fed goads the states into initiating the program with lures of Federal funding which ends up disappearing over time leaving the states to pick up the tab. It is a program of coercion wherein if the states don't toe the line and add additional people to the rolls as the Fed demands, then funding on what already is gets terminated. Voluntary not, coercion in the form of threats of Federal funds withdrawal or reductions on other programs are used for states to sign up.

Education, better known as indoctrination always results in failure because all are clueless about reality but have huge debt for ignorance.

Your above is not the truth about the subject is all. You are caught in what you call self education "failure" that you describe. If you want the truth, go to the source and ask.

You have no clue as to what you speak. If you go to the hospital and can't pay, the hospital will help you fill out the forms to get medicaid to pay them. Young guy that used to work with me had appendicitis, cost $30,000. No insurance, hospital paid $27,000 by medicaid and guy only had to pay off the $3,000.

Because like what is becoming a majority of Americans would prefer to suck at the government teat than to provide for themselves. But then your source wouldn't be at all biased, would it"

Naw, there wouldn't be any biased report about a government service in front of an election, would there?

My proposal is: everyone should get out of everyone else's healthcare/business. It isn't the government's business to pay for anyone's healthcare. Nor to make laws to govern how healthcare must be doled out. Not in any way, shape or form.

Try looking up the criteria to qualify for Medicaid before you embarrass yourself further.

Ignorant, to ignore what can be known which includes the denial of experience. As to the skin off your butt, do you check that every time you pull out your head for a breath?

And how much would that leave to fund the rest of the government??
You don't believe taxes should have to be over 50% do you?

And that's just for Medicare. What about all the other medical costs?

I think there's a real problem on our hands. Medical care costs and spending are going to have to go down and people's incomes are going to have to go up.

Artificial means of trying to lower costs through price fixing and mandates are just going to result in shortages.

The last option could be to rethink some of the government's priorities, but that's not going to address all of the problem. (For one thing take a look at how much the Dept. Homeland Security and TSA cost, or the war on drugs. Per life saved it might be more effective to spend that money on healthcare)
