~ That can be said for government in general. Example : Poor people living in trailer parks that are bulldozed for condominiums/ railways/commercial development/ etc. The compensation given to the "poor" is always dismal . Eminent domain law is an example. Bush #2 made it even worse for the little guy.

I would disagree on your analysis of independents. I think most of them are all about policy over party and pay close attention to policy and vote based on that

Okay, so who's policies are independents in favor of? Trump's or Biden's, Republican or Democratic?

Independents are not as a group for anybody. That’s what makes us independent.

As a group no. So let me put it this way, which policies are more independents for, Trump's or Biden's. I break independents down into three groups, those who lean Republican, those who lean Democratic and true or pure independents with no leans.

Even so, I think more independents decide who to vote for on whether or not they dislike or like this candidate or the other. How they view the candidates through their lenses, their perspectives and feelings with less to do with policy. I think a lot of independents were turned off Trump due to his in your face persona, his unpresidential behavior than this policies. But we'll see.

Speaking for myself I despise both parties and don't like Trump but I love his policies and will vote for him based on that.

Each individual has their reason why they vote the way they do. Those reasons are important to them. It's a shame others, more partisan can't understand that. We might disagree with the way they vote, we may even thing the reason/s are asinine, but we must realize those reasons are important to those voters. They may think the reason/s I vote or you vote the way you do are also asinine to them. I respect them.

Myself, being military all my life I was turned off completely on Trump when he basically said McCain was a bad soldier because he got caught or some akin to that. Now I can see attacking McCain for his political views or anything he did as a senator, that's all fair game. But I think attacking a POW for being or becoming a POW because his plane was shot down over Hanoi was way beyond the pale.

Since then I've held Trump in disdain, Trump the man, the individual, the person. Now is policies and stances on issues, I supported some and opposed some just like every other president. But I didn't vote for him and won't vote for him this time either. I voted third party in 2016, against both Trump and Hillary Clinton. I didn't want neither one to become our next president, so I voted against them.

This time around, I probably will vote for Biden. I always like Joe as a senator, for his more moderate stances and his willingness to work across the aisle with Republicans. In today's polarized and ultra high partisan atmosphere, that may be impossible. But I like his history of doing or trying to do so.

Now like you, I do despise both major parties. So I'll attempt to keep divided government as a check on old Joe and the Democrats. More so on the Democratic Party. I vote for Joe, then vote for both Republican candidates in our two senate races this year. Then for my present Democratic congressman. Having divided government is the only way to have any type of check on whoever is president. Those in congress, the house and the senate of the same party as the president are more a part of the administration, more a part of the president's cabinet than of the institutions of the the House and the the Senate.

Or perhaps it's just party first, everything else second or lower.

So Trump made you mad when he said that about McCain and you will now base your vote on emotion. My wife feels the same about his ***** comment. I’m still working on her but you served your country and earned the right to waste your vote so I’ll not work on you.
