Hi everybody, I am Titan, my real name is Martin. I am 56 and from Hamburg, Germany. I guess I will not write a lot here, as English is not my mother's tongue. But I will read a bit. I am by the way not that interested in politics in general, but I am interested in politics so far as politics are an important part of what's going on in societies. So, this is my introduction, and I hope, I will have a good time here.
Welcome, Martin aus Hamburg! How is the weather in good old Germany? I wish you lots of fun und gute Unterhaltung!
Don't let it stop you. You speak better English than we speak German. The only way to get better at English is to use it, if you're interested in that.
Thank you very much for your welcome. Maybe you are right, vman12 and I shouldn't be too shy to write a bit in this forum. I will see that. I mean, if you have learnt a certain language, it's normal that you have a certain desire to practise it to become better. On the other hand I will do that very rarely. As I said, I am more interested in societies than in politics. Politics is of course part of the society as we are all political beings. But for example I don't want to interfere in discussions where I lack any information and experience. There are other topics, philosophy maybe or classical music where I am less cautious to interfere in discussions ( I am in such English forums). But politics is something really special. For example if I speak as a German about British politics ( which I know anyway much too little) this could be understood as a bad interference. Societies have always these tendencies in that way that they are a world of their own and something one says can be understood as bad understanding of a society you don't know much of. Well, I will see, but as Sallyyally says, it's possible to learn a lot by just watching. I think I will certainly more watch here than write.
Welcome, don't worry, I'm french and most people are patient toward people who like us have an imperfect english.
I'm not a native English speaker as well, It doesn't prevent me from enunciating at all. We are all respectful to each other over here.
That's true, in that 'practice makes perfect'? I used to be fluent in Spanish when I lived in Gibraltar, but now I've lost that fluency because I've been away from Gib for so long, so had no cause to speak it. Oh, and welcome by the way!
