Hi new user from the UK! Like every person from England of my age I grew up with Spitting Image. My generation knew more about politics than any school kids before or since

And we have a very cynical view of anyone involved in politics. I have no interest in UK politics because I am ashamed by our parties. I am intensely interested in US politics, I won't give away my affiliation here but it will become obvious very quickly.

I came to American politics because I got fed up with our news. I've never seen such a mess with Brexit, just tell the EU to shove and slap a 25% trade tariff on. Then discuss trade.

So our news just winds me up.

I've always been a news-freak, but I no longer watch nor listen to the BBC news because I get depressed by the way it's been dumbed down, and I get fed up with the government lies which it routinely broadcasts.

 

I became disillusioned with UK media as I don't believe a word they say. So I stopped watching and reading.

Then I discovered Fox News and realised there was hope, not much hope but some.

 

I'll give Fox a try - what's to lose? I tried Al Jazeera recently but not quite sure yet what to make of it.

 

Al Jazeera is good to cleanse the pallet, also AP is worth a read.

RT can have some interesting stories too but it can be a little OTT.

Thanks LM - it's good to have a small selection to compare and draw conclusions from. I'm finished with the BBC though, I know that much! It gets more dumbed down by the day. Even PM has become 'The Eddie Mair Show'. And I've wound down on Today since hearing that Humphrys is ready to retire from it.

I think the EU needs to sort illegal immigration out we cannot take them forever, still have an open EU but more control to each country on certain things and more control on outside EU immigration.

EU and America has the same problem we can't keep taking immigrants forever but I'm a bit leftist too so I think we should try and make their countries better so they don't need to come here. Like my Prolife stance lets increase sex ed and contraception availability rather than limit abortions.

The way our countries are being run it's like they deliberately want them to go bankrupt so we can become enforced "Socialist"

This excludes illegals which make a large portion but one we have no idea of the scale.

It's the lorry drivers I feel sorry for they're innocent victims in all this just trying to do their jobs.


The lorry drivers get fined £2000 for each illegal when they get UK, they lock the doors but the illegals bolt cut the locks.

These have been offered Asylum in France but they only want to come to the UK.
