How many times do we have to show that inflation was WORLDWIDE, and since we literally offshore almost everything we buy, how is Joe supposed to control that ?

Oh yeah, Exxon showed another record PROFIT of over $17.9 billion last quarter alone. So are you OK with Joe setting the limit on their profits to lower inflation ?

The 2022(5%), and forthcoming 2023(10%) COLA increase will undoubtedly accelerate the depletion of the SSI trust fund by several years.

In addition, a swap from a Trust Fund/Intragovernmental Debt to the Public Debt increases the Net Interest.

After depletion, the SSI Trust Fund would continue to receive tax revenues, however, the Public Debt/Net Interest will substantially increase.

In reality, some $240 million in produce have gone to waste in those DPS stops and logjams. So now, they are going through Arizona and New Mexico to get to Texas grocery stores and elsewhere. Yes, Abbott's move was a political stunt, nothing more, nothing less. These trucks were already inspected by CBP with drug and human sniffing dogs, examination of the manifest, the weight and tonnage measurements, etc. To go through a second time was uncalled for.

Depending on the disease, no food will make you heal. But for Altzheimers's, not much is known about its root cause and is the most common form of dementia. About 5.8 million people have it according to the CDC in various degrees of severity. Alzheimer's is like a slow death. If you've ever been around a person who has it, you know it can be very frustrating to the immediate family.

What are you really trying to say? I treat people wrong and am showing my true colors? If so, you haven't a real clue, do you?

Biden is vote buying. You don't want to admit that. Fine. I do care about future generations being saddled with the burden of Biden's mishaps.

This may be true, I don't know the ins and outs of SS, but the increase is happening
in the Biden admin and that is what the population know.

This is all on Biden and his anti Trump open border policy. I have been through those border stops in I20 and they are just a drive through. Dog or agent smells something you pull off to the side, dog is never wrong. Blame the shipper that put the wrong lettuce on board. Also those trucks are air conditioned and as long as the motor can run the produce is safe. Texas ain't starving your grama, just fighting an invasion.

Actually THEY are the ones who decided to put EVERYTHING on the credit card by supporting Reaganomics (especially gutting taxes (revenues) under rRonnie, Dubya and TFG)

Show me where Biden did that? He talked about it'

New Data: Biden’s First Year Drilling Permitting Stomps Trump’s By 34%

Biden outpaces Trump in issuing drilling permits on public lands
The widening gulf between the president’s policies on oil, gas and coal extraction and his initial promises has raised questions about his climate goals

The administration’s actions reveal an uncomfortable truth: Although Biden supports a shift to cleaner sources of energy, he has failed to curb fossil fuel development in the United States. His push to suspend federal oil and gas auctions has run headlong into political and legal challenges, and his administration has offered no plan to address the climate impact of mining in Wyoming’s coal-rich Powder River Basin. Collectively, these activities account for nearly a quarter of the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions.

BTW, OVER 90% OF DRILLING IS ON PRIVATE LANDS, NOT US FEDERAL GOV'T

The oil industry has "9,000 permits to drill now. They could be drilling right now, yesterday, last week, last year."

In 2020, the oil bust created worker and supply shortages and caused companies to cut their budgets. Investors remain reluctant to invest in fossil fuels. Pavel Molchanov, an analyst at Raymond James, told CNN Business that "oil and gas companies do not want to drill more."

"They are under pressure from the financial community to pay more dividends, to do more share buybacks instead of the proverbial 'drill, baby, drill,' which is the way they would have done things 10 years ago. Corporate strategy has fundamentally changed."

Don't understand how SS works huh?

How is a COLA calculated? The Social Security Act specifies a formula for determining each COLA. According to the formula, COLAs are based on increases in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W). CPI-Ws are calculated on a monthly basis by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

I know Biden always has a scapegoat but Reagan? It wasn't that long ago that Democrats owned the Legislature, Why didn't put their vastly superior plan into effect and end the devastation caused by Reaganomics?

The recent oil boom began with Trump okaying the Keystone pipeline and it ended when Biden was elected and canceled it. He is also the guy who vowed no more drilling. This inflation we have yet to see top out is all Biden's, even if he didn't actually design the problems that have fed it. Now Democrats are trying to slap band aids on all the wounds before the mid terms but this avalanche of woe is just getting started.

Trump caused it with high gas prices from reduced supply during covid - that combined with supply issues due to covid, not corps do not want to lower prices

had Trump left things alone, we would of had super low gas prices during covid, and then back to normal after

    When was this?

President Obama was sworn in on January 20, 2009 with just 58 Senators to support his agenda.

He should have had 59, but Republicans contested Al Franken's election in Minnesota and he didn't get seated for seven months.

The President's cause was helped in April when Pennsylvania's Republican Senator Arlen Specter switched parties.

That gave the President 59 votes -- still a vote shy of the super majority.

But one month later, Democratic Senator Byrd of West Virginia was hospitalized and was basically out of commission.

So while the President's number on paper was 59 Senators -- he was really working with just 58 Senators.

Then in July, Minnesota Senator Al Franken was finally sworn in, giving President Obama the magic 60 -- but only in theory, because Senator Byrd was still out.

In August, Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts died and the number went back down to 59 again until Paul Kirk temporarily filled Kennedy's seat in September.

Any pretense of a supermajority ended on February 4, 2010 when Republican Scott Brown was sworn into the seat Senator Kennedy once held.Do you see a two-year supermajority?

Weird I showed you FACTS and you decide to go with BS? Seriously?

That CANADIAN pipeline wasn't finisjed when Biden stopped it, besides the FACT that the dirty Canadian oil is still getting to the US via trains and ships

    BUT

AP FACT CHECK: The energy boom didn’t start with Trump

THE FACTS: On the contrary, energy production was unleashed during Obama’s presidency, largely because of advances in hydraulic fracturing that made it economical to tap vast reserves of natural gas. Oil production also greatly increased, reducing imports. Before the presidential election last year, the U.S. for the first time in decades was getting more energy domestically than it imports. The government estimated this year that the U.S. could switch from being a net importer of energy to being a net exporter as early as 2019, depending on what happens to oil prices, energy resources and economic growth.

Trump, a Republican, has rolled back some obstacles for the coal industry, which indeed complained of overregulation by Obama, a Democrat. But coal’s decline in recent years was driven mainly by competition from cheap natural gas.

The oil industry actually hasn’t done that well under Trump

Energy executives say the White House has set up a system where only a relative handful of favorite energy executives have access to people who can shape policy.

The oil industry’s fortunes have been withering on President Donald Trump’s watch, with dozens of oil companies falling into bankruptcy as weak crude prices take a toll on the sector he contends would be abolished if he’s not reelected.

    Oh gas prices

Gasoline Prices Up Due to Global Supply-Demand Issues, Russian Invasion of Ukraine

...And according to those who analyze energy markets, the primary reason prices increased toward the end of 2020 and then in 2021, is because the demand for oil around the world began to exceed the available international supply.

“U.S. gasoline prices follow gyrations in world oil markets, which depend on global (not domestic) supply and demand,” Alan Reynolds, an economist and senior fellow at the Cato Institute, wrote in a May 10 post.

“What happened to world oil markets in 2020 was a global pandemic, with falling oil and gas prices followed by a sizable loss of oil and gas production capacity in the U.S. and elsewhere,” he said. “What happened in 2021 was mostly the phasing‐out of governmental lockdown schemes which allowed production, commerce, and transportation to bounce back faster than oil and gas production could.”
    https://www.factcheck.org/2022/07/g...ly-demand-issues-russian-invasion-of-ukraine/

“Covid changed the game, not President Biden,” said Patrick De Haan, the head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, which tracks gasoline prices. “U.S. oil production fell in the last eight months of President Trump’s tenure. Is that his fault? No.”

“The pandemic brought us to our knees,” Mr. De Haan added.

In the early months of 2020, when the virus took hold, demand for oil dried up and prices plummeted, with the benchmark price for crude oil in the United States falling to negative $37.63 that April. In response, producers in the United States and around the world began decreasing output.

As pandemic restrictions loosened worldwide and economies recovered, demand outpaced supply. That was “mostly attributable” to the decision by OPEC Plus, an alliance of oil-producing countries that controls about half the world’s supply, to limit increases in production, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Domestic production also remains below prepandemic levels, as capital spending declined and investors remained reluctant to provide financing to the oil industry.

...These factors are largely out of Mr. Biden’s control, experts agreed, though they said he had not exactly sent positive signals to the oil and gas industry and its investors by vowing to reduce emissions and fossil fuel reliance.
