Hillary Clinton deleted a 2009 email in which she forwarded classified information to her daughter, Chelsea.

The email was released on Friday by the State Department. It is one of thousands of emails recovered by the FBI from Clinton’s private email server.

The Dec. 20, 2009 email chain, entitled “Update,” started with a message from Michael Froman, who served as a deputy assistant to President Obama and deputy national security adviser for international economic affairs.

The email, which is redacted because it contains information classified as “Confidential,” was sent to Jake Sullivan, Clinton’s foreign policy adivser at the State Department, and several Obama aides. Sullivan sent it to Hillary Clinton who then forwarded it to Chelsea, who emailed under the pseudonym “Diane Reynolds.”

But Hillary's email problems are all just a "witch hunt". Partisan charges with nothing to them. That's what many apologists claim, anyway.

In reality if Hillary is forwarding classified information to her daughter, who is not authorized to have such access, there seems to be no doubt about
her law breaking. So why are people trying to claim Hillary Clinton is not deliberately and consciously breaking U.S. law?

The matter seems more than settled. Hillary should be stamping out license plates in an orange jumpsuit in a federal penitentiary, somewhere.

It's not marked classified, so how did she deliberately break the law?

We don't know if it's marked or not because it's redacted. However, marking makes no difference at all. The Secretary of State, and anyone with a security clearance, has a duty to protect classified information whether it is marked or not. How do you think classified information is marked in the first place?

Why did she delete this email?

Confidential is seriously the lowest level of classification that something can have. They stick "Confidential" on like everything.

I seen military unit alert rosters classified "Confidential".

You understand that there is no "Confidential" level of security clearance, right? The lowest security clearance level is Secret. Confidential classification is so low that you don't need a clearance to view it, just a need to know.

NOTHING with national security value gets classified "confidential".

You are absolutely wrong, you need a security clearance to view Confidential classified information and there are Confidential security clearances. Perhaps you are thinking of FOUO, or you've never had a clearance. The definition of classifying information Confidential: "Confidential" shall be applied to information, the unauthorized disclosure of which reasonably could be expected to cause damage to the national security.

Read here if you don't believe me:
    https://www.clearancejobs.com/security_clearance_faq.pdf

Edit: Here's a plea bargain conviction for revealing Confidential information. Just because it's the lowest category of classification doesn't give anyone a pass....except Hillary Clinton.

I held a Top Secret clearance and worked in intelligence for a decade before getting out of the military. Never did I see a single thing marked "Confidential" that had any national security value.

Confidential ends up on stuff with like personal information on it, or at best OPSEC type stuff. Stuff with real intelligence value gets classified Secret or higher.

If you worked in intelligence for a decade how did you not know that there are Confidential security clearances? How did you not know that you must have a security clearance to view Confidential information? Wow, you're scary. Please don't get a clearance again.

I've never met a single person ever with a Confidential level clearance. The lowest clearance I've ever seen on a person is a Secret.

Again, the only stuff I ever saw classified Confidential was bull(*)(*)(*)(*) personal information stuff. I've never seen a single thing with national security value classified below Secret.

That's because active duty clearances are rarely Confidential since it takes almost the same amount of work to approve a Secret clearance, and the military can be somewhat lax about minimizing clearance levels. Just because you haven't encountered someone with a Confidential clearance doesn't mean they don't exist.

I've seen Confidential info that exactly fits it's definition, it would cause damage to national security if released. Were you a classifying authority, or were you just making your own judgement on what you saw wasn't important? A lot of times information is classified Confidential because if it's associated with other public information it can provide more serious information after association.

Obviously this email was scrutinized by the State Dept in connection with a criminal investigation and the Confidential classification wasn't willy nilly as you seem to suggest.

Purposefully giving classified information to someone without a clearance is a felony.

The whole issue of E mail is R I D I C U L O U S. Let's say that Trump put pressure on the republican Comey to act. If anyone should get OUT it is Comey and the gang of Republicans who convinced him to do something no FBI director had done before. Interfere with a political election. I hear Giuliani, the Hillary's hater, say that Hillary will be indicted before the election day. HOW DOES HE KNOW THIS? Is the FBI feeding him information?

So you have a problem not with any crimes that may have been committed by Clinton, but rather the FBI for investigating it? Liberal minds at work.
