We probably won't know for sure until the election is over, but judging from my FB feed and what I'm seeing on the internet, the Dems are running a much better campaign on social media websites. I have never seen so much political activity in my life, and almost all of it is from Democrats (I have quite a few right-wing friends who are keeping silent). Those who are going to vote for Trump are sitting in plain sight and keeping quiet, but anyone vulnerable to social pressure is likely to swing toward Hillary if this barrage keeps up. I'm not liking what I'm seeing. A lot of these people are some of my most ignorant friends who've never cared about politics or read a book in their lives. I'm tempted to start crushing them, but I'd rather not reveal my support for Trump in public. Thoughts?
I don't agree with this at all. In fact, on an individual level I think Trump is much more astute; he's better "connected.".
I'm not talking about them as individuals; I'm talking about the entire movement. I'm saying that the left-wing online presence seems to be very strong. They are certainly managing to convince my young female friends.
Go check out the_donald subreddit, then youtube to see the brunt of Trump's net forces. Hillary is paying lots of shills via some "blue..." group within her campaign, and so is David Brock's mediamatters through its "Correct the Record" program. Some obvious paid CTR shills are here on this forum, won't bother calling them out because I don't want an infraction. IMO Trump is winning the net campaign. Hell, the reddit Trumpers trolled the Clinton campaign into attacking a cartoon frog meme as dogwhistle racism, got them to mention it on their campaign website... embarrassing. Young people see this kind of thing as stupidity and weakness, and vote accordingly. Check this hilarity that came out today on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfHDQC0e-t8
No doubt they have a paid army of trolls, some of whom are on this forum, but it doesn't stop people from buying their narrative. Right now, people are terrified of being called racist, and the left has successfully tied support for Trump with racism, so a lot of young people are being cowed into support for the dems. I hope you are right about the support for Trump. In my experience, young people who don't know what they are talking about are easily swayed by the media and whatever they see their friends doing--this is what worries me. Hell, I would gladly crush these arguments on my FB feed if I wasn't afraid of losing too many friends. Left wingers take politics more personally than right wingers do, and I just can't afford to (*)(*)(*)(*) any of them off. Unfortunately, this scenario is playing out all over the country.
They can run what ever they want, they still won't get the majority of Sanders primary voters. She won't win because all the social media in the worlds can't polish a turd. BTW barrage politics turns most folks off not on.
As someone who believes a meaningful discussion of any issue requires more than 140 characters, I'm not sure what to make of the whole social media landscape. However, I think that both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are savvy enough to realize that they need to pay attention to this, 'cuz it's a brave new (political) world.
Sure, take heart that we have people such as this woman.
I think they are, but young females seem to be overwhelmingly in favor of either Hillary, or at least anti-Trump. Us right-wingers have got to figure out how to appeal to women more without giving up our principles. A lot of it. Facebook and Google are shameful in their bias. I've noticed that attractive women are rarely die-hard liberals
I present for your joy the following video.
I meant I edited the video into the thread post, so OP may not have seen it... it was the same young woman you posted, just done up like a feminist and what happened after she got invited to volunteer for Hillary.
