From the Guardian: Why Trump's bigoted tirade could be a vote winner

And to defeat him, the Left-of-center will have to make all efforts to get-out-the-vote.

He is vilified and detested by a good many people. See analysis here (CNN, June 12, 2019):
Top 2020 Democrats best Trump in hypothetical matchups in new poll - excerpt:
Far too good to be ultimately true? Time will tell ...

    Footnotes:
*Trump will try to convince American voters that "Look for yourself! I am GREAT for the economy! History proves it!"
*Despite his arguments regarding this notion, the economy actually started recovering in terms of the Employment-to-population Ratio in January of 2014 during Obama's administration - almost three full years before the election in November, 2016. (See here: History of Employment-to-population Ratio)

Caveat excerpted from above linked CNN article:

Trump is playing the MSM and Dems like a Strativarious. He is pushing Pelosi and the more main stream Dems to embrace the ridiculous, radical ‘squad’ and their views which are incompatible with mainstream America in Wisconsin, Michigan, Western Pennsylvania and Ohio. The ‘squad’ doesn’t poll so good in those areas........just sayin’

I don't believe that to be true. I believe that there is sincere and genuine belief (as do I) regarding Trump's racism. And the fact that there aren't any (or many) Reps that see it tells me that their barometer for racism is very different than that of Dems. Yes, there is a 'definition', but people rarely reference it when they laugh at jokes or hear their party making statements.

The first article accuses Trump of racism, but fails to show this while at the same time pointing out his base is "mostly white" and just for good measure "lower educated". This doesn't seem like hypocrisy to you? This sort of tactic isn't working anymore. The writer of the article is the one that injected race, and then mentioned the race of Trump supporters to try to create a race issue where none exists. This is the thing that is turning people off to the Dems and much of the media fast. CNN is facing a credibility crisis for a reason. Also, "go back to your country" isn't racist, it is nationalist. What race is foreigner?

Any virtue can become a vice. To me, it seems people are letting their desire to be open and accepting of other people, be used to manipulate them. If a person, of any color, moves to any country and starts shrilly complaining about how that country doesn't cater to outsiders enough, they should be asked to leave. In most countries, that is the case. You shouldn't go there and agitate against the country you choose to move to. I guess my point is, don't let your desire to be accepting of outsiders be used to blind you to the fact that not all outsiders are good people.

As for the last article, these polls mean nothing. Biden won't even make it to the race, and none of these lunatics talking about taking away people's private health insurance or privatizing businesses is going to beat Trump. Unless some moderate Democrat with a mass appeal jumps in right now, I don't see how it will be possible.

Do you believe his "America first" policy is racist?

Is that what this is really about?

As is anyone who doesn't support liberal ideas. You can stop this now. It has been used so often that it no longer has any value or meaning.

I am sure libs are sincere....if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. If all you have is identity politics, everything looks like racism.

PS lest we forget that for 8 years every critic of Obama was routinely accused of racism, including McCain, including Romney.. of course the accusers were sincere and genuine. Duh, please spare us.

The Democrats call everything that is different than what they believe in racist. They have used the word so much it's the third most used word next to (the) and (and). It's lost all meaning. If he's racist, he's the best racist they ever had.

For a guy that people think is racist, his policies have done more for the different racist in just a little over two years than Obama did in eight. Blacks, Hispanics and Asians have all seen the lowest unemployment in their history. Does a racist do things like this?

The Left and Democrats really don't give a flying f*ck about racism and bigotry...

If they did the Obama would be a pariah and the Democratic governor of Virginia

Ralph "Coonman" Northam, wouldn't enjoy a 66% approval rating amongst Virginia Democrats...

I didn't believe this at first, but I do now think that there are masses of Americans out there that literally think Trump is a racist fascist, there are Nazis around every corner, things are somehow worse for immigrants, and there is a very real danger of sliding into fascism as a nation. I can accept that you believe these things, that isn't what makes the conversation so difficult. The hard part is that while you are ascribing the worst motives to me, I am also doing it to you. So for example, you don't want to raise taxes to help poor people, but because you hate rich people. You would say that I don't want to cut programs to increase self sufficiency, but because I hate poor people and so on. If you try to give the other person the worst motivation, then you become intellectually lazy because you just don't have to listen to the bad type of person, no matter how true their ideas. Trump helped poor people get jobs, yeah but hes a racist so who cares. Bernie is going to get every American access to health care, yeah but he is a commie so who cares. It is all so lazy.

I agree with you that there is a divide in barometers. I don't even want to say "reps and dems" because that doesn't really capture it. The progressive-conservative divide I guess. Your choices are 1. literally everything is racist and everyone is on eggshells from now on or 2. What racism? We had a black president.
Take your pick. There will be no nuance, no gray area, and no quarter. Team red or team blue.

Sorry for the rant. Back to my original point, I can accept that you believe Trump is a racist, but I am curious why. Is it based on something substantive or is it based on innuendo and team red/blue tribalism?

Let's say you have spent a lifetime in America and possess the mentality to evaluate the experience. You can put you head up your ass and make all kinds of claims, but what was the reality of the past 70 or so years? Do you really think someone living in our country for the past 70 or so years experienced a life living in such a great country, if your head is removed from your ass?

I have news for you, it wasn't that good and even when you were elite enough to not experience the downfalls of all those recessions (at least 10), you still had to live in a country where many of your people were affected. 70 years ago, a quarter of our population lived in poverty. That isn't fun time, even if you have the money to not be poor. Those times with my fellow Americans dying in foreign wars wasn't fun. The recent times with a bunch of idiots, who were never taught history isn't fun.

I never dreamed of the day that America would be so stupid to elect a person like Don "the Mensa" tRump, but here we are. tRump doesn't know anything about anything, except how to con people, like he spent his whole life doing. He never went thru school and learned things, he skated his way thru it with money. He's not capable to doing the job of the President, because he has such a short attention span, he can't handle complex issues. He never learned the discipline required to study things.

tRump will push patriotism and his nationalist agenda for his only chance to get re-elected and will probably resign, if he can get a pardon. He doesn't care how outrageous he gets, it gives him the attention he wants. By now, the news media should know that and stop covering what the fool says. Just say, tRump did it again, here is how you can find out, if you give a damn what he did and give them a site for details.

Maybe because leftists have been calling anyone to the right of Stalin a racist for long that no one pays attention anymore and just assumes (correctly) that this is just more bloviating from the real racists.

    Out of curiosity.....

Is it racist when people of color call a white president a traitor?
is it racist when people of color call for the impeachment of a white president?
Is it racist when people of color call a white president an agent of a foreign power?
Is it racist when people of color call a white president a money launderer?
Is it racist when people of color say a white president has ties to the Russian mafia?
Is it racist when people of color attack a white president's family?
Is it racist when people of color make fun of the skin tone of a white president?

Since the left sees racism in everything, then it should be easy for them to see the racism exhibited by people of color towards a white president. It's right there in plain site.

I am not sure what you mean by "mainstream" and to whom I am to direct my query. If you mean that it is a popular idea, I will just say this is why we don't have a democracy. It is easy to rabble rouse plebs into anything, even if that thing makes no sense. I work in healthcare and I can tell you without reservation that medicare is worse than any private insurance I have encountered. They can be a hassle to deal with if you don't have a dedicated billing staff, and they ALWAYS under pay. If your doctor only takes medicare then he will be running at a loss. Good by timely MRI. I know ortho surgeons that won't take any medicare patients because medicare refuses to pay for appropriate rehab after surgery meaning you will get your rotator cuff repaired, but then you will have a frozen shoulder from insufficient rehab. So why get the surgery? And to top off all of this goodness, the program is already bloated and wasteful as it is. Medicare and medicaid already account for 17% of our GDP just with current coverage. Oh yeah, this is looking like a sweet plan. I sure am glad a bunch of people with no knowledge of how any of this works, want a voice in how my money is spent.
