Today's swearing in of new senators includes the winner, Kyrsten Sinema and her opponent, Martha McSally [appointed by governor]. A Democrat and Republican woman representing a state going through considerable transition.

Arizona is a very different kind of state; certainly not liberal, per say, but like McCain, there's a strong sense of independent thinking.

I think it is great we have a dynamic bipartisan duo in AZ Now.. They're debates will be interesting.. Things they agree on will be fascinating.

 

Agree. McCain was always a thorn in the side of the GOP but Arizona stubbornly re-elected him over and over since 1983. Maybe because they recognized a hero. But Trump said McCain was not a hero because he was captured. How can any Republicans support Trump?

You ever check out McCain's history? Do you think being a poor pilot and getting shot down makes you a hero? McCain wrecked three other planes prior to being shot down. If he hadn't been a Admirals kid, and grandkid, he would have been booted. While hot dogging he also took out power lines in Spain, causing a power outage for thousands of people. When he was shot down, his fellow pilots said "he got himself shot down, failing to follow combat instructions". During his imprisonment, some of his fellow inmates called him "Hanoi Hilton Songbird".

Please tell me what makes him a hero?

A hero typically saves the day he doesn't get shot down on a routine mission then poked with a stick for five years.

McCain was a horrible pilot who had no business flying, he was in the bottom of his class, he was cited more than any other student in that schools history for breaking rules.

I think the last thing I would ever call McCain is a hero.

Look up his flying accidents where he put the lives of his fellow airmen at risk due to his unprofessional behavior.

 

The only person banned from McCain's funeral was the leader of Republicans. What a bunch of wonderful people, those Republicans.
