For millions of long suffering leaf fans yet another new year begins bringing hope and excitement that will surely crash upon the sharp elbows of reality some time in May (god forbid earlier). Cheers to fans of the game.
I prefer high school puck and watched one no-check Fall league series game in South St Paul this past weekend. Am hoping to watch many more scholastics games when the regular season starts as it makes winter go by quickly. As for the pros, am hoping against hope that the NY Rangers and Islanders will both have good seasons. Also look forward to IIHF puck in December as that is one of the world's best yearly tournaments. Ah, and will also have to make a pineapple pie for myself in honor of my hero Gump Worsley who lived for his next chunk of that type of pie. Quoting Gumper: " “My hobby,” Worsley declares, “is baking pastries: pies, cakes, cookies - In They Call Me Gump - the great man’s straightforward recipe for Pineapple Squares. Separated eggs, baking powder, shredded coconut, it’s all there. “Bake at 350° about 30 minutes,” he concludes. “Cool and cut into squares.”” '' https://puckstruck.com/articles-2/gumps-worsleys-pineapple-squares/ https://puckstruck.com/2019/05/14/gump-worsleys-pineapple-squares/
For you its the Gumper, for me it was Johnny Bower, oh he of Honky the Christmas Goose fame. I like Barzal and the Islander "yutes", but seems to me the Rangers will once again be the overpaid underachievers they have been for so long.
