I’m saying the problems in Venezuela are self-inflicted. They chose the wrong economic and political systems.

If we’re helping to push that authoritarian government over the edge, I’m all for it.

 

Then why does the US have so many embargoes on Venezuela to keep them from being able to make money on the open market?

 

Getting improvements with China is a slow process. Trump is making progress. None of his predecessors did anything. They sat on their fat asses.

 

Their goals and values are 180 degrees opposed to ours, so naturally we don’t want to do anything to help them.

 

Then there is no such thing as a free market system.

 

Venezuela doesn’t believe in a free market; their government’s primary goal is to wipe out the free market.

If they’re whining about wanting a free market, that has to be the most hypocritical statement in world history.

 

Venezuela is not in any shape the wealthiest nation on the planet and doesn't have the power to destroy the free market since it involves the entire planet.

He doesn't. The US trade balance as a whole keeps going down. He made trade with China less appealing, not trade with the world less appealing. Hence the gap is just growing and growing.
