    Of course they were. Anthropologists seem to think that our ancestors were morons. As soon as you see a big animal that is an herbivore and large enough to not just carry a person but also any gear that they might have with them, then any person with average intelligence is going to wonder if they could tame it. Its not rocket science.

    The Saudis are very enthusiastic about horse racing, which could have actually originated in Saudi Arabia. The sport of horse racing officially developed sometime before 1000 B.C.E. when the Greeks created a game but the ancient Greeks may have just copied what the Saudis were doing in the Arabian Peninsula. Haplogroup J2 (Y-chromosomal DNA) is correlated with the diffusion of domesticated cattle and goats.

    Thanks.. Lots of Americans in Arabia keep horses and even in the early days they had a couple of hobby farms.

    People remember Kris Kristofferson working there as a teen.
