    It's a simple enough question.

A member keeps making that claim and he is getting several likes for it. I would like to know what Donald Trump has or is doing that has pushed us to the brink of civil war and some evidence that we are to the brink of civil war.

I think it's fear mongering but I will give those on the left who actually believe Trump is pushing us to the brink of civil war a chance to explain why.

We aren't at the brink, it will take a few years.

We are already at war. It's a war of culture, society, and government.

It is the ideologies of conservatism verse liberalism.

    Trump was simply a catalyst.

The perspectives are simply too far apart. Something will have to give.

A few years? You think Trump running in 2024 will do it?

Yeah but that's not a civil war.

Back when we did have a civil war there was two armies fighting each other.

People are unhappy with Trump and Biden but most still go about thier everyday normal lives.

I'm just not seeing it. I expected the reasons being January 6th and Trumps claim of election fraud or some protests but none of those has put us on the brink of civil war.

Interesting. We will see what happens.

I honestly don't want Trump to run but he is determined to do it. I'm sure he will be a sore loser but he has only himself to blame. I supported Trump but I'm in the minority. The majority rejected him and I don't see that changing in 2024.

Trump is running a race he can't win.

He probably knows that but his concern is not 'winning' any election. He's winning on a daily basis by all the idiots who are sending him money.

We’re not at the brink of a civil war nor are we polarized. Conflict is the essence of drama. It creates story lines, narratives, and most especially cash. Hence the proliferation of drama queens though they always been with us but this might be our peak (likely one of the by products of technological advancement).

We have a vocal minority stoked by a ton cash for benefit of the spenders of that cash. Nothing more nothing less.

    Something to consider.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2021/07/13/trump-gop-enforcers-state-chairs-499456

The POT, being in the minority, continues on a trend of radicalization and intolerance as it tries to impose its will on the majority.

It’s like the gun issue for Democrats: Democrat voters shoot up their cities but it’s the Republicans fault for defending the 2nd amendment that lets Democrats have the guns in the first place.

Trump is the gun that allows liberals to go crazy, and it’s all his fault for making them pull the trigger.

I don't believe we are on the brink of civil war - not even close! I suppose, though, that it can be viewed that way when we see armed groups marching on state houses. Or civilian militia groups like American Wolf taking it upon themselves to bring order to protests with firearms, zip ties and bear spray.

All trump did was highlight the silliness of PC culture. This is all stuff that was already known
Did you know that the survivor host recently got in trouble by saying you “guys” follow me?
Meanwhile China is dominating and we sit here getting weaker and argue about silly things the left seems important, like sex changes for toddlers and murdering babies during labor.
Perhaps we should just embrace our China masters now. They clearly have more common sense than us

I’m a conservative so don’t be too offended when I point to Jan 6th. I know Trump didn’t tell people to go be violent and break into the the building. But it was his supporters. They at his approval or not did literally attack our elected officials and made them feel threatened. That was an attack on our system whether you want to admit it or not.

I don’t blame Trump for that. I don’t even blame Trump supporters as a whole for that. The people that did that were mostly Trump supporters but they don’t stand for everyone that voted for Trump. One of those individuals was a utah BLM activist as well. But most of them as in 99% felt they were helping Trump when they did this.

like on Jan 6th, when we are so divided, people do things they would not normally do, especially those that worship a man as much as those on jan 6th worshiped Trump, one of the defendants lawyers said it was like a cult

Big Lie… was that the Benghazi was a protest that got out of hand story? You morons think Trump is the only politician that lies? Give it up already. You elected a guy that can’t even count the fingers on his hands. Your man is half of what trump is

Makes no nevermind. As expected par for the course.Trump will be the
New Poster boy for use as as punching bag.Because it paid for the MSM
to crucify Trump practically every day.Cable { CNN & MSNBC } used
Trump hatred for Profit.Because the Democrat party and their adjunct { Journalists
    and Press and MSM Hosts } are For Sale.Just sell out to Oligarchs { G.Soros }
and Big Tech { Silicon Valley } and one will be In Like Flint.
Now that there's No Trump to shine some spotline on,that translates into fewer
Newspaper sold.Fewer Audience for the Networks and Cable.
So the name Trump needs to make headlines as mush as Poss-eee-bow.

We are in a time of political polarization that feels like a civil war emotionally.

But an actual civil war using guns?

    Not going to happen.

Its always 'the other guys' fault. Our perpetual search for the ever illusive unicorn called 'utopia' drives us to increasingly use the truncheon of coersive controls on eachother in attempt to fix smaller and smaller problems. When people who have a different view of what utopia actually is, they resist, and then they are the 'bad guy.' Of course, those attempting to control others never see it that way because everyone is always the hero of their own story. Even Hitler and Stalin both thought they were the heroes of their own stories and the people they were murdering were the problem. This is what is meant by 'the road to hell is paved with good intentions.' 'Good' is relative to the individual. Peace otoh requires a tolerance of an imperfect society where people have the right to make 'wrong' decisions. The only alternative to the tolerance of an imperfect society, eventually, is to make war on those with opposing values.
