The sort of gun I used to collect. Came a time when I realized I had too many guns I had as ‘collectors’ that I didn’t have a practical use for; they were just historic lust guns. Sold ‘em, kept the few I did use, and bought a house. Still.... there is that attraction for the, new ‘Old’ prettiest girl on the table. Then, my other useless collections... Art knives, vintage fly rods, .... silly really...but...

Anyone have an opinion on the new Winchester .350 Legend cartridge? Bought one yet? Shot one yet?

Had it out today with some .375 grain buffalo bore hard cast. I got 6 rounds through it, my wife did 3, and my buddy did one. Pretty brutal.

That’s it. Except they are back to 6 shot now. Note his shooting glove.

They went from 6 to 5 and back to 6 huh? Interesting.

I think they went to five when they found people loading above saami, then discovered some metallurgy that allowed them to go back to 6.

Ruger revolvers typically just laugh at SAAMI.

Yes they do. They punched out the .454 cylinder to accept the .480 and the walls got pretty thin. Someone got nervous I guess.

Did I hear you can fire the .454 and .45LC with the .480?

.480 is its own deal. You can fire .480 out of a .475 linebaugh but not vice verse. You can shoot .45 LC out of a .454.

What did Hickok45 mean at 7 minutes 35 seconds to 7 minutes 54 seconds in this video?

When he refers to the .460 which is essentially a lengthened or stretched cartridge he mentions the other shorter rounds that can be fired in the larger gun . Like the .357 mag can shoot 38 special and the .44 mag can shoot 44 special; the.460 can shoot the shorter cartridges of the same diameter. OF COURSE A PERSON SHOULD ALWAYS CHECK WITH THEIR GUN'S MANUFACTURER TO ENSURE WHICH CARTRIDGES, IN ADDITION TO THE SPECIFIED CARTRIDGE, CAN BE FIRED IN THEIR PARTICULAR GUN!

I hope I answered the question you were asking and didn't just throw out a lot of superfluous info.

    Rich

Some additional info which is likely more professional than mine. (well not sure about Wikipedia)
The .454 Casull also has the ability to shoot shorter cartridges of the same diameter:

I get that. So is he saying you can fire the .454 in a .460?

Oh, I get it. He was talking about the .460, not the .480. That's what confused me. I was thinking .480.

No, can't inter change the .454 with the .460. It was somewhat confusing how he said it. I had to watch it several times to understand. As I now understand it he is shooting the .454 but mentions he had thought about getting a .460 as it has the ability to shoot the shorter rounds.

I stand corrected on at least one thing. I did some Google searches and I am finding that the .460 should shoot the .454 round but not the other way around.

In fact the Wiki quote above indicates the .454 will fire in the .460. I went back and put it in bold.

    DISCLAIMER
Anyway don't take my word for it. I shoot a .357. Those big guns scare the **** out of me.

Yeah, that's the quoted page I had above. I even had to go back and read my own quote. Anyway, for what its worth, I added some edits to posts 2114 and 2116. Added my disclaimer too.

Don't know if I provided any quality information but I don't charge much for providing it either.

My Smith & Wesson 25-5 in .45 Colt finally made it home! 4-inch barrel, action tuned by Teddy Jacobsen of Actions by T. One of the most accurate handguns I have ever had the pleasure of owning!
