How sure are we really that animals have all our emotions?

Man's inhumanity against his fellow creatures? I despair, I really do. I hope the bastards all get cancer and die in prolonged agony.

 

In the video, the elephant seen is said to love a few particular songs. Whenever he plays one, as seen in the freeze frame, the elephant tugs his trunk up, holds it in his mouth... and trembles.

And who knew,elephants can keep a beat while playing an instrument.

 

I had a cat that loved it when I played Nadia's Theme on the piano. He always came running and sat right next to the piano when I played it.

 

I was staying on a farm and one dog really took a shine to me and would visit me, spend time with me, problem is her owner was just a child and got jealous and decided to send her dog away.

Her dog wanted to ride with me in the car, and would tag along on walks etc....

I never experienced a dog, someone elses dog, wanting to spend time with me.

 

I'll tell you this: a dog that is surrendered to a shelter acts very clearly like he feels abandoned and afraid. Adopt him and you often find he is unsure, feels anxiety, is worried about being abandoned again, sad, and in great need of love and respect and reassurance for a couple of years or more.... -if you're sensitive to his needs as expressed by his behavior. And yet others are very grateful and you can tell.

 

A person who can read a dog's signals knows there is much more to a dog's emotions than fear. Spend some time working with dogs at a shelter near you and in time you will learn to read body language including expressions communicated via ear position, breathing, eyes, and posture and every combination indicates an emotional state. In fact, I'll just say that a dog experiences (and expresses) every emotion that people do. And the proof is that by knowing the signs of the dog's emotional state will enable you to anticipate problems before they manifest fully including impending attack. Just last week I was working with a new dog in a large pen outside when the dog came to greet me happily but when I bent over him to give him a greeting touch I could see in his eyes alone that he didn't like that and I was at risk of a bite. He didn't like someone bent over him. it's a dominating position. And his eyes told me to stand up to avoid a bad reaction.

All it takes is familiarity and paying attention.

 

Dogs are a surprising judge of character. I've seen the very thing you are referring to, too. We had a dog at the shelter recently that would growl and snarl and bark at anyone who stopped by his kennel, until one day one lady who was looking to adopt came by. He instantly got calm, sat, wagged, ears back, and "smiled". Everyone was amazed! She adopted him.
