We just received our latest edition of Smithsonian magazine, a gift of our unused frequent flier miles. I would never pay a dime to hypocrites like Smithsonian, or National Geographic, or Sierra, or Rick Steves, or countless other leftist mouthpieces.

But you can mess with them, yank their chains and challenge their blatant hypocrisy.
Here's my email just sent to Smithsonian, like others I have sent to National Geographic, and Sierra Club, and Rick Steves:
    ________________________________________________
Given the fact that Smithsonian magazine, like National Geographic, like Sierra Club, like Rick Steves, like PBS and all the countless groups which insist that *climate change* is catastrophic and MUST be addressed immediately, how do you justify advertising and promoting travel by hundreds of millions, burning untold quantities of those NASTY fossil fuels:
page 10 - Regent Cruises - an entire thirty page CATALOG of overpriced cruises
page 20 - Escape World Travel
    page 25 - Caravan tours
page 79 - Sail the Wilds of Greenland
page 82 - travel ready kayak - DRIVE your kayak to a lake and the HELL with climate change, eh?
page 83 - Regent Seven Seas Cruises - hypocrites go and have fun, while you preach *climate change* conservation
page 88 - Regent Seven Seas Cruises, in case you haven't gotten the message already
page 88 - Andante Travel to Pompeii, Sicily, because not buring fossil fuel is for losers with no money
    page 90 - River Cruising
back cover - Prius, cruising California freeways at 80 mph because we're BETTER than you and we don't give a damn about saving fossil fuel by cruising at 55 mph

Their advertisements are just like yours, replete with hypocrisy and dishonesty. Explain. Justify. Use your fabulous wordplay, as always.

He is free to travel. He is not the one claiming that burning fuel will kill the planet.

Just so, my friend. Just so.
I have been around the world many times. I just don't preach the insanity of *climate change* like Rick Steves does, and like National Geographic does. In fact, I wrote to the president of the National Geographic magazine, at his residence in Virginia, and addressed his consummate hypocrisy. He didn't reply, of course, because there simply is no excuse for what they do.

Of my many travels, one of the most memorable was at Chateau Versailles. We returned to Versailles after visiting it years earlier and arriving in the evening, we checked into our hotel and I went for a run. Going to the front gate, they were closing and the Frog said "Ferme, ferme" (closed), while beating his left hand with a club in his right.

Oh yeah? We'll see who's closed, Pierre.

So I ran south, turned right at the street, and found the side entry to Le Jardin du Roi. There, I saw the week link in the high fence, a corner, and climbed over and had the gardens of the Versailles Palace all to myself. As he moon rose over the palace, I looked back on it from beyond the large fountain. It was a glorious moment. Continuing on north, I jumped a block wall fence only six feet high or so, and will forever have the joy of those moments to savor. C'etait magnifique, bien sur.

I walked half a mile atop the Berlin Wall on that same trip, and another half a mile on the Great Wall of China, where I had a fun interplay with a platoon from the Red Army, photobombing them. My first photobomb was around thirty years ago, in the gardens of London's Parliament. To the best of my knowledge, I invented the practice. Never saw or heard of it before I did so that day.
The surprised group was from Moscow.

Short term - the OP is right.

Long term - the idea is to reduce pollutants by shifting to cleaner energy sources and making planes and other modes of transportation more fuel efficient so we don't have to give up travel.
It's called, "thinking ahead." The OP should try it sometime.

Its more complicated than that. Look at LA.. and how dramatically they have reduced emissions and smog.

That's why countries like Saudi Arabia have for years invested in research and reducing emissions. Its why coal fired power plants are converting to natural gas... and have created 7,000 new jobs in the solar sector.

Why they have Farasan solar plant etc.

Its why MIT has a hydro power experiment in the Bay of Fundy.

I am not humorless and I am a feminist who adores men.

You don't know anything about Pakistan.. you just glom on to anything that is shallow and half true or sensational.

I came looking for an intelligent discussion on climate change willing to listen to logical arguements and less than a page in we are talking about Hillary voters, Muslims, Jews, Lesbians, racists and Fascists. Does this show the depth of understanding you people have of science? How sad.

Nothing in the title of this thread suggest "logical arguements (sic)" on the climate change fraud. It is an introduction on how to "mess" with the hypocrites. There are debates raging elsewhere within this very portal, I do believe. Hie thee hence. That would be the science thread, not this one.

    Chem Engineer for who? Koch?
I assume you have a pet theory as to why the vast majority of scientists worldwide would look to perpetrate a fraud?
You dispute that the average temperature of the earth is rising?
Do you think theft is responsible for the shrinking of polar ice?

I don't know why you guys bother with these global warming types. They aren't going to be honest, so why bother?

Leave them alone. They can lie to themselves until the cows come home.

It appears that these things are being addressed and the actually should be mandated, IMO. But of course if strict regulations were put in place to lower the environmental impact of cruising, some half-wit would be screaming about too much regulation, capitalism and some other BS.
