Well, aren't we always told that America is the land of equal opportunity? No matter if rich or poor, or how much money your parents have, or how unequal wealth is distributed? I guess some are more equal than others.

Do you also think parents are scum who give their children unearned jobs in the WH through nepotism?

As far as we know only two mentioned are Hollywood money the rest appear to be financial world corporate CEO's, and at least one big time lawyer.

Another example of a segment of our population that have far too much money for their own good while millions have little to none.

I don't understand these people. It appears as though they'll do anything to ensure their kids receive a good education .. yet it's clearly the opposite. They actually do NOTHING, then try to patch up their neglect with a money band-aid.

    Horrible excuses for parents.

It has little to do with money, actually. Poor people are just as able to neglect their kids education.

They first taught them that mom and dad don't give a damn about them. THAT'S the thing which will cause them lifelong problems. The cheating, not so much.

I agree. Hollywood actors should have to live on the average wage. It’s not fair to make $20M just for having a pretty face.

Yeah, political persuasions are irrelevant. Cheating is cheating. The kids are gonna suffer though.

You have to wonder if these parents at some point realized what they were doing was illegal and they could go to prison. Certainly when warrants for their arrest were issued, they must have realized that their life as they have known it is very likely to end very abruptly.

Just a side note. I don't care whether the parents were on the right or on the left. They cheated some other deserving youngsters of an opportunity.

Also, you have to wonder about how long this has been going on that there may be some other arrests further down the road involving people who have already graduated. Anyone who was involved in this is most likely very concerned about their future and probably a lot of them who have received no warrants for their arrest have already started talking to their lawyers.

Yes, I'm sure there were arrests of other lesser known people.....arrest is great but conviction and jail time would be better :)….let's see if these rich scumbags can buy their way out of jail as they bought their way into college....

So . . . 33 parents? That's it? That is supposed to send readers into fits of outraged convulsion? The average University screws over more deserving youngsters than that on a routine and yearly basis via Affirmative Action penalizing the youngsters who actually worked hard and earned their places in favor of comparative slacker youngsters who are going to be getting in due to Politically Correct c-r-a-p. So let's attempt to keep this in perspective.

On the flip-side, however, sooooooooo . . . thirty three wealthy parents are going to be in huge trouble plus corrupt university officials. Good. I hope they receive huge fines and perhaps some jail time. But still, it's just not that big of a deal . . . it is not, after all, Affirmative Action, that's cheated tens of thousands of youngsters out of earned and deserved spots over the decades. It is in comparison a small potatoes scandal.

No, I didn’t say that at all. I just said that rich aholes cheating to buy their kids into college is nothing new. It doesn’t matter what “wing” they are or if they are not part of any of these wings that you are so obsessed with. I have met plenty of Ivy League grads who are dumb as hell but their parents are loaded. Trump is a prime example of that, so is GW Bush who has degrees from both Harvard and Yale and can’t pronounce the word nuclear. Ivy League schools generally recruit poor kids who have brains to make up for the legacy morons who buy their way in.

It seems like most of the discussion has been about the parents. I would think the children would be in legal jeopardy also. When someone takes their ACT for them or pays a coach so that they are part of an athletic team, , that makes them part of the conspiracy. This is going to go a long way beyond just 33 parents. This could end up in the hundreds by the time it is over.

Should they get more of less time than tax cheats and money launderers like Trump, Cohen and Manafort?

The biggest scam in higher education?

    Student Loans.

People are kicking a screaming about some rich people paving the way for their kids? Hello, McFly, how long has that been going on?

What is outrageous are these schools jacking up tuition on students who never seem to be rejected for loans. These schools are financially ruining these kids and they couldn't care less about it.
