No one can say he’s in a “better place”. There was no better place for him to go.

Hefner got more booty than a toilet seat. His empire had sunk to the point he had to sell his major assets.

Why buy his magazine when there is the Internet. Thank you very much Bill Gates.

I remember reading something from Hunter S. Thompson where he said a fake Playboy press ID he bought for five bucks got him into far more places than his real press credentials back in the day. IIRC, there were some places that he was supposed to be that wouldn't let him in with his real one and he would show them the Playboy fake saying he also wrote for them and the door would be flung open for him.

I was a paying member of the Playboy Club. Any more here who was in the club? Not to rip Hugh, but the Xmas dinner at the SF Playboy Club was the worst meal of my life. It took far too long to have the order get to the table. When it arrived, the steaks were very very cold. And it was too busy to ask them to solve it. I paid a good sized fee for my playboy club card and finally refused to keep up on the dues. I went there with my then wife and extended family and we all were very disappointed. Patty, my cousins wife was a very very good waitress for a then restaurant chain and she was very pissed.

Seriously you went for the food? I thought you would get a picture with one of the playmates or something. :rock_slayer:

He was certainly an interesting man who led a wild and unique life that probably most men would say they envied. Trendsetting, provoking, controversial, unique - so many adjectives to describe him. I'm sure his family and many friends will miss him. Rest in peace.

I'd concur with the rest in peace meme here, but the man's been, um, resting in/on a piece for most of his life.

    Godspeed Hugh.

Cincinnati member and my next door neighbor was a Bunny there. Would occasionally run into Pete Rose and/or Johnny Bench there and have a drink or two and talk baseball.

Yes, I was a member of the Playboy Club. It was always a great experience. Denver Club and Miami Club were the only 2 I ever attended. My sister worked in the Miami Club.

RIP Hef, one of the good guys.

A person can look at Hefner in two ways:

    1. He gave women an opportunity for careers and stardom

    2. He exploited women for money.

I'm surprised the feminists didn't attack him more than they did.

RIP. Surrounded by lovers, not "loved ones" sounds more believable.

Thank you, Mr. Hefner, for enhancing my high school days with an amplified understanding of life, my self, American manhood, and beauty in womanhood.

Who could ever forget issues like the December 1963 Playboy, featuring Donna Michele? But, in truth, women -- certainly, MOST American women were really great-looking back then. They actually CARED about what they looked like, and weren't slovenly, unkempt cattle....
