If you don't care how people live, then he has a point.

One could argue that without rights, the quality of life one would have as a result is simply nor worth living.

Or certainly the amount of material possessions and comforts traded in exchange would have to be more than enough to offset those losses in rights.

Over in the Abortion section of this forum they believe that human rights are more important, so why can't these same people value rights in other cases?

Seems a bit of hypocrisy, or at least logical inconsistency...

Edit: Oops, replied before reading the link and realizing this was about conservative taking away of rights.

Most pro human right people are hypocrites, they care of the "rights"of criminals, but when innocent people suffer from criminals, I don't hear them being concerned about the "right" of not being murdered.

I don't like that much human right concept or the concept of "equality".

That's all fine and dandy so long as the 'concerned' is benevolent. Even if Duterte could be described as such, its a virtual guarantee (historically speaking) that whomever replaces him will be malevolent and seeking to use the position of power he created for malevolent purposes.

No one is safe when the government has the power of summary execution of civilians.
