I suspect it's against your will also. If you could go back in time and terminate your life in the womb, would you?

I believe they both hold the same level of viability in their current state of being.

And your point being what? Yes humans go through many stages of their human life but at each stage it is a human life. The born baby is not the same as a grown adult, so what?

You mean like an oak tree. No you cut down a sapling, a stage of the life of a oak tree before it reaches maturation.

I understand that a human life begins at conception. The real debate is whether a cell at the beginning of conception is a human person with all the rights of all humans. Pregnancy does harm the body even if it is natural that is undeniable. I don't see how something being "natural" somehow makes it morally superior. I don't understand this naturalism worship. Oftentimes nature sucks and we need to evaluate the objective impacts of things rather than whether they are natural or not. Kidney donation may not be natural but it is an amazing wonderful procedure that is far better than many natural things.

The born baby possesses sentience, just the same as the living adult. Sentience is the requirement for personhood. Personhood begets rights. Prior to that they have protections. Which are not the same.

So a seed is a sapling?

Nobody said anything about being "morally superior".

The fetus and mother are equal. Just like a newborn and the mother are equal even though the newborn can't survive on its own without being taken care of.

I didn't ask about "viability", I asked about "value". Kind of boxed you in, didn't I.

If it dies when you remove it - then it's not "separate" is it? A viable baby can be removed and survive with out the mother - that's separate.

But you used naturality as a reason to allow forced pregnancy but ban forced kidney transplants and you never explained why it should be used as a reason or why naturality is inherently better. I don't see how a cell at conception that isn't even conscious is equal to a grown woman.

You think soggy 1-ply cardboard will do the trick? I don’t think so.
Viability is an important factor in value. There is no value to bringing a non-viable fetus to term. See how that works?

We have family make decisions to stop care to elderly every day. People who can't make decisions on their own. Legally, we have given them the right. This is no different.

If you went "back in time", that means you'd be going back with the knowledge of what life is (unless you are a Trump supporter).

So it's not a valid comparison....

when you believe the unborn are indeed human and when you kill another human not out of self defense what else would you call it other than murder?

so using your logic new born even up to a year old aren't capable of making decisions also
so can family members make decision for them even if it cost then their life?

Since ANY pregnancy can result in the death of the mother - you can only apply percentages to what would be considered ""self defense". What percentage would you consider acceptable? 5%? 20? Should the mother get a say in that percentage?

I think that if this issue was about abortions right after (or within a few weeks) of conceptions, the argument would have been settled long ago. Sure, there are some that feel ALL abortions at any stage of the pregnancy should be outlawed, but I think that a huge majority of people have accepted abortions done shortly after conception are acceptable.

Well if we find a dead woman the police and coroner come out. Is that what should happen for all miscarriages?

Problem with that is many (possibly most) pregnancy aren’t detected immediately after conception. But there are still people who argue conception is a viable point to claim personhood, otherwise the plan b pill wouldn’t be a hot button topic.

Family members make life and death decisions for newborns every day. Do they get life-saving heart surgery for a defect? Or wait? Do they put them to sleep on their backs or side? This crib or that crib? Do we get him vaccines or not?
