We all fall short but most of us don't fall into the abyss of iniquity like Trump does.

Trump has a lifelong record of despicable acts, you are not paying attention or you would know this. He is not worthy of the office of the president. Prior to this election, in prior elections in the past, Trump would not have been allowed to represent the republican party. When Michael Steele was RNC chairman, he would have kicked Trump out of the GOP just as any honorable republican would ( except for someone like Newt Ginrich ). But, Raence Priebus, a veritable hall monitor, doesn't have a spine in his body, allowed him to run on the ticket.

Your reference to 'nanny state' is just and old, tired, right wing trope. Republicans have a long history of big government, Dems are just honest about it.
You've been listening to ideologues, not pragmatists Joe Biden could pass for a moderate republican, he is much more of a populist than anyone on the right is, and Donald Trump is a conman, a huckster, and if you don't know this, you are not paying attention.

Read George Will, Krauthammer, Peggy Noonan, Rick Wilson, David Frum, Steve Schmidt, for authentic conservative voices and stay away from T party, John Birchers, Steve Bannon and the nutwing fringe of the right that are now in control. Bill Buckley would have ostracized Trump, just as he did the John Birchers, when Buckley was alive.

 

You know your politics have strayed into the territory of religion and cults when you can't get along with people who don't share your political views. It should be easy to agree to disagree about these things, but then people should also be able to agree about basic realities. But Trump is constantly asserting huge lies as truth and viciously attacking even moderates for disagreeing with those lies.

 

Very true. We fall into different abysses, some of us deeper than others, and in different ways. This, I suspect, is why we get the famous and haunting biblical admonition in Luke 6:37.

When we add up the good things we have done and subtract the bad, does our bottom line look any better than Trump's? I honestly don't know in my case, but would be very embarrassed by a public trial where all was revealed..

THE CORBYNIZATION OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY CONTINUES: Linda Sarsour’s Group Says ‘No Zionists’ at Civil Rights Rally.

It was an event to celebrate freedom and protest ongoing bigotry and discrimination.

But the group Muslims4Abolition openly engaged in bigotry and discrimination in promoting its Juneteenth rally last Friday in New York. The event, an advertisement made clear, was “open to all, minus cops & Zionists.”

Sarsour has a history of espousing her own bigotry and excluding Zionists from progressive platforms. In a 2017 interview with The Nation, she claimed that people could not be both feminist and Zionist.

She has repeatedly spread a blood libel linking US law enforcement personnel training in Israel to the shooting of unarmed black people in America.

Sarsour offered a similar line two years earlier, during a speech at the 20th anniversary of the “Million Man March” organized by the Nation of Islam’s antisemitic leader Louis Farrakhan. “The same people who justify the massacres of Palestinian people and call it collateral damage are the same people who justify the murder of black young men and women,” she said.

In 2016, she told an American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) event that she only wants friendships and camaraderie with those who unequivocally support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. The BDS movement singles out Israel for political and economic isolation while ignoring other countries with far worse human rights records. The leaders of the BDS movement have said no Palestinian would ever accept Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.

Many have taken to social media to condemn Sarsour for promoting an event that excludes nearly all Jews. More than 90% of the world’s Jews consider themselves Zionists to varying degrees, in that they believe Israel has a right to and should exist as a Jewish state.
