Yep, some people just don't advertise it or make frequent mention of it. I tend to assume that posters are male without cues to tell me otherwise.

 

That is not true at all. Guys online can be very creepy. VERY creepy. Also, rude and disgusting.

Usually a person will say something that gives away their gender. I think it's the ones who purposefully want people to wonder that don't choose a female or male gender and who post in a gender neutral manner without every mentioning children, a husband, a wife, or whatever.

 

Not what I meant at all. I was trying to say that it is always women who approach me to talk about their problems.

It is of course objective facts that more men than women are Internet-creeps.

 

Then there are the whackos who want people to think they are the opposite gender for whatever strange reason. I don't know what the goal of that is other than maybe because some feel like they would get more respect as the opposite gender??? I don't know, but I think that is highly dishonest and that you should always present yourself as what you are.

 

Right, of course. MOST of the men that I've talked to online have been gentleman and are very nice, but there have been a few . . . well, let's just say they came across as weirdos. Lol.

 

Aren't men more prone to sexual deviancy to begin with? No doubt ties in with the male sex drive generally being so strong. Makes sense that this would manifest itself online as well.

 

Yup. That is the most probable explanation for it although I cannot understand why anyone would message random girls on Facebook or even worse, message them on discussion boards. I have heard stories that females are not even left alone on places like this - There is always some creep who'll message you weird stuff.

 

Small wonder if women downplay their gender online, then! I've heard of girls playing online games that way to avoid being bothered in the manner you describe.

Lonely guys (like me) will look at any girl online as an opportunity. These lonely guys need to get out and meet someone, or maybe come across the right girl online, though many (like me) probably need to get their own life in order first, but don't even realize that.

I haven't been bothered much. Like I said, on rare occasions. However, I am very . . . bitchy and aggressive. Lol! I don't take crap from anyone! But yeah, I've had guys message me and start off sounding normal but then get kind of odd, like start talking about their penis or something. Then, I'm just like, what the hell, dude? And I laugh.

 

They have "cyber sex" sites online too. Lol. My neighbor divorced her husband because he was addicted to cyber sexting. He did it via Skype though too. She was totally disgusted by him when she found out.

 

Yeah, it's weird to do on a message board like this when there are sites for that kind of thing!

 

In discussing politics, philosophy, music or whatever, I really see no point in knowing what gender the people I am discussing with are of. That is completely out of my interest and I only care for their opinions and arguments.

I am not here to meet the love of my life, that would just be stupid.

Why the fff.. would anyone join PF to flirt with the female members? If this was a dating site there would be a big war between the male members as there are only like 25 female members and 1000's of male ones.

I guess it depends how you want to define "flirting". In my mind, 'flirting' is to playfully show romantic/erotic interest in someone. I like to "joke around", sure. But, flirt? Nope.

Well, joking around can be flirty, depending on what the topic is, but I've seen you flirting with some of the girls here before. Maybe just the blonde ones, or the ones who are pretending they are blonde.

 

Does not really matter imo. He clearly cheated on her regardless. I don't know what is wrong with people these days, but seems like a vast majority of us have completely lost the ability to communicate.

Hahaha! No way! I know I use alot of smilies and stuff, but I have never flirted with anyone on here. I treat both male and female members the same.

 

I'm still posting. I didn't plan on leaving, and I'm very pleased with the changes made since I first posted this thread. It was rather annoying trying to navigate here and also I couldn't even access this place some of the time because it would tell me the server was "too busy at the moment" and to "try again later." We couldn't post pictures from our computers. Then, to go through all the trouble to come here and make posts and have no one respond to them was a bit annoying. Or to just read the same old arguments sometimes gets old and boring. I think the changes they made really saved this forum from going down the tubes.

 

Was it intentional to post this just now? I mean, did you notice what the conversation we were having was about?
