So I switched to CBS last night for 1 minute. That's all it took. Colbert's first guest was a young male singer/ actor from a hit musical currently on Broadway. He sits down and says this to Colbert: "First let me say that I love you ( I squirmed.) You are a beacon of hope in these horrible times." Horrible? Why isn't Colbert embarrassed at this? It was mawkish in the first place, and in the second place this is not the Red Terror or a Stalinist Purge we are living through. Many in Colbert's potential audience, including me, are doing just fine. I voted for Johnson, but Trump makes me proud to be an American. He is a strong leader who killed it in Poland this week on behalf of the entire western world. Switch off Colbert, boycott Broadway and Hollywood, and get behind our President! He supports you, so the least you can do is support him back as long as he is your President. Colbert of course just basked in the implicit condemnation of Trump from his young brainwashed guest.
These people are trained to gush over each other and will continue to do so until one of them dies and the survivor's autobiography is written. The false modesty is also always amusing to behold when the subject is uncomfortably having to cope with all this unexpected flattery. Of course Colbert had no idea this guy was such a fan!
