I have 3 cats Spanky meow and pumkin. Spanky is all black and meow is all black and pumpkin is calico. Here is a photo of pumpkin.
I had a female calico once that we named "Squeaker" because she didn't meow like most cats ... she squeaked. Squeaker Now I've got this male tabby who does this when I'm looking and opining on PF instead of paying attention to him ... Seth
I have a half siamese rescue. His name is Stalin because of a mustache marking he used to have on his face. We found him begging for food at the kids school when he was not quite full grown. The ex took all three cats with her, but Stalin kept coming back, so he gets to stay He follows me around like a dog would. Well, not me, but everyone. He'll follow me to the mini-mart down the street or he'll just follow passers by to their house. But he always comes back.
I had 3 cats that aged out around 17 years old. And I managed them in a hospice style. They didn't seem in pain, just dying. The Siamese Brothers, Izzy and Solly and the Black stray I have known in the n'hood through 5 previous homes. The shock came some months after the third passing. Adopting a kitten today isn't like "FREE KITTENs" ads or cardboard box by the grocery store and someone offering free kittens. No today it is like the "We Love Animals" so very much people who make you fill out an application, each one with their own paper, and treating you like you are not worthy. One might explain their previous cats made it to age 17, doesn't matter. My friend's adult sister had the same experience adopting a rescue puppy after her geriatric canine passed. I really, really dislike these people. We love cats/dogs so much we must make sure you are worthy. Especially after I was twice refused. Why I don't know. I am 70 but, have a place for my critters in my "trust". Finally, one shelter was impressed with my determination and allowed me the adoption they previously refused me. An orange and white neutered Tuxedo male and a little gray tabby neutered female. In the cage with several cats the Orange & White (Pretty Boy) was lounging and the little gray tabby (Floosie) just 2 months younger went to him and let out a "meow". He responded by licking her. I knew they got along. Bonded. Because of coyotes I keep them mostly inside with some outside time in a well fenced yard. Not well enough to protect from coyotes, just keep the cats corralled. The Black kitty was a survivor through several coyote "clean outs" of small dogs and cats. I wish I had a cat like her again. She killed and ate rats. Knew the terrain regardless of ownership. How a cat should be. Currently, I'm not willing to lose a cat to a coyote to finally get a smart one. But, I do miss the outdoor cat who I call in at night and they come. The adoption people will refuse you if you tell them you will let a cat outside. How hideous can they get? I feel sorry for locked in cats. Apartment/Condo dwelling cats. So unnatural. Last thought of the moment. When I was a kid, a cat was a female's pet, men had dogs. Today most dog owners are women and most cat owners are men. Moi Cat Server The Horror. The cat.
