Except for the fact that it is not. When one attributes the concept of "manliness" to the amount of risk one willingly takes, even when it is unnecessary risk for no reason other than knowing something can indeed be done, it is a valid concept to draw on just where such thinking ends, and what such thinking entails.

Does such apply in all circumstances, even when the reward is not worth the risk? Or does the above apply only when the reason for engaging in the behavior that generated the fear is a worthwhile endeavor. Being a parent and responsible for the well being of others, as opposed to running through traffic on a freeway.

Dunno who the hell you think you're kidding.
So the way you figure it, rape is unacceptable because of the risk that the victim will be worse off for the experience. Pretty much got that bang on, haven't I?

There is no evidence to date that anyone is ever immune to Covid-19.The WHO is now saying having it once and being cured definitely does not insure that you do not get it again and again.

Somehow I missed the overwrought fervor over people who spread AIDS (that's still ongoing... CA decriminalizing it? Mhmmm MHMMMM) No LW OUTRAGE. Wonder why? I know why.

90% of the LW posters on this forum that I've ever seen didn't register one speck of concern over Swine Flu or SARS, NONE. No Fs given. Wonder why? I know why.

To the topic, more than any other relatively recent social issue, the Corona "Cooties" Scare of 2020 shows up some interesting sociological trends. 1. All that "everyone gets a trophy" and single mother indulgence of younger people and some older has made the U.S. mostly a country of NARCISSISTS who can't come to terms with the reality of their pending mortality... that is coming one day... whether special snowflakes like that or not. Hysteria over things like flu-like illnesses is thinly concealed lack of acceptance of one's own mortality. 2. Our gov-edu system has become rotten to the "common core" in neglecting to educate the young on certain aspects of math, statistics and probabilities. This is demonstrated daily by the "EVERY LIFE IS SACRED" brigades of ignorant viral parrots. Here's the other half of that conundrum "OUR SOCIETY NECESSARILY INVOLVES TRADEOFFS BETWEEN QOL and PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY." Always has, always will. Oh, you thought that only applied to "evil" corporations who accept certain amounts of damages before fixing things to some plaintiff's lawyer standards of "safe?" F Off, even you lot are smart enough to know better.

So if 1:10,000 mothers die in complications during abortions, I guess we need to ban all abortions right? Because EVERY LIFE IS SACRED? Right KAREN? RIGHT?
So if 50% of the population is going to be diabetic or pre diabetic in a couple of years with those MILLIONS of deaths attached, we need to ban ALL sugar and ALL processed carbs, right? RIGHT?
So if children are major carriers of viruses, bacteria, etc. when they get together, we need to move 100% to computer education, fire all teachers, fire all edu bureaucrats, disband edu unions. RIGHT?

    Yeah, thought so.

Rational adults get the point, screaming mimis will never get the point.

I don’t remember this much pearl clutching last year when almost 50 thousand people died from the common flu.

Factually incorrect. The entire premise of the opening post of this topic is that the subject and concept of being a "real man" is directly tied to the amount of risk one is willing to put themselves and others in, even for no justifiable reason to warrant taking said risk in the first place. When one attributes taking basic precautions to avoid infection, with actively running away from a fight, such warrants drawing comparisons with other risky, dangerous behavior to see if so-called "real men" engage in such as well, on the basis that so-called "real men" take risks that others do not.

The common flu is a known quantity. We know it is seasonal. We have vaccines (though many people don't take them).
The fear of the unknown is always more powerful.

Actually, if you have an infected tooth, there are many states you live with it until some governor deems dentists to re-open. I have two friends waiting on hip replacements that were scheduled months ago. Doctors and dentists have had their routine schedules thrown out the window and my dentist told me he was not scheduling any patients for cleaning if they had insurance until all those without insurance were taken care of. Entire floors of hospitals are empty waiting for the huge wave of Chinese virus patients while those needing joint replacements sit home taking pain meds. This thing is a cluster and we need to get back to work.

Had you likened his conduct to drunk driving maybe you'd have had a point, as it's possible in both cases that nobody gets hurt; but of course you likened it to an act that's guaranteed to cause harm by definition.

And that's why your parallel is hopelessly idiotic. You're welcome.

I would rather kiss a covid patient full on the lips than take any mandated injection, blood test, microchip, etc.

Why would you care? I’ve never been able to get my head around the notion of “man rules”. It’s a concept for whiney insecure snow flakes.

Beyond ‘do no harm’ there are no rules for men. A man does what he wants, when he wants, with whomever he wants.

Who are you to judge his choices?

~ In many situations people are following the " government mandates ". Many stores require a mask to enter. Why some folks wear them outside is another matter ...

How does one rationalize the two standards with one another? How does one do whatever they want, whenever they want, and still not cause harm in the process, either to themselves or someone else?
