I want to create a large private community that requires gun ownership for residency.

Actually that is quite incorrect, 98+% of the pollution that enters Lake O is from new developments north of the lake, most near or bordering the Kissimmee River, developments that rely on large septic systems versus more expensive sewerage treatment plants, septic systems which leach pollution and nutrients into the Kissimmee River, a just as bad secondary cause, is the overuse of fertilizers by homeowners keeping their lawns nice and green at the expense of others downstream and the runoff form that also enters the Lake.

Prior to this massive overdevelopment from Orlando South, Lake O never really had algae problems or runoffs containing algae and excessive levels of nutrients being dumped into the Caloosahatchee River, St Lucie River and the Everglades.

Big Sugar is south of Lake O and water flows from the North to the South, so there is no possible way for big sugar to be the cause.

BTW Hendry is rated second for the cleanest air in Florida, why?

Big Sugar, all that cane cleans the air and is part of what makes Hendry a great place to live.

Get your head out of your butt and stop believing the environmentalists aka., land developers B.S..

I read through this entire thread and just have to laugh at the gun haters and sheeple and their anger and rage at even the thought of a city dedicated to the living of free-thinking people.

I'm sad to say the idea was thought of before; a gentleman names Ignatius Piazza proposed a town in Nevada dedicated to 2nd Amendment living; much like a golf community but with shooting ranges instead of golf courses. Sadly, Piazza ran it as a Ponzi scheme, and the idea collapsed under its own weight, but I still think the idea has merit.

Of course, I grew up in the Southwest in the '70's and '80's. My grandfather was a cop and had been for forty years. Literally EVERYONE kept a gun in the home. Kids went to school with rifles over their shoulders to hunt game for the stewpot on their way home. Running to the store? Everyone grabbed a .32 or a .38 with their car keys. A guy in the neighborhood had spent 20 years in the Marines and upon retiring started a little personal farm down on the corner on about 4 acres, and he always wore bib overalls... with a .45 Government carried behind the chest panel. Until 1968 the local hardware/convenience store had a sitting area where everyone hung out and socialized, where you could get an old-school soda from the machine right next to the rifle rack by the gun counter in the back. Sadly, the Gun Control Act of '68 put the kibosh on that. Too bad; I would have loved to have gone into that store, just like my grandfather had when he was twelve years old, to buy my first gun with money I'd earned mowing lawns and cleaning up trash and cashing in on soda bottles and cans. But, sadly, the interference of a government contemptuous of the Constitution prevented me from having that experience.

Back then, people left their keys in the cars in their driveways; if someone needed to run an errand they could hop in a neighbor's car, run the errand, and all that was expected was returning the car with a full tank of gas. Doors were left unlocked for the most part when people were home during the day; though they all locked doors at night. It really was a great place to grow up. There was only one incident of violence I really remember: a drifter going through town broke into a house looking for some fast cash and the homeowner came home to find the guy rifling through his desk drawers. The bad guy pulled a knife and waved it threateningly... and took two rounds from a .38 Hand Ejector in the belly. The bad guy staggered outside and collapsed while the homeowner called police. The would-be thief was still alive when the constabulary arrived and survived to be prosecuted.

Either way, it was a safe and idyllic existence and a happy, friendly community. I would have no qualms about living in such a place today!

Based on that comment, you would love living here in Hendry County Florida, lots of guns very little crime and what crime there is, 90% is in one part of Hendry named Harlem.

If it wasn't in Florida I might be interested. I just promised my wife we would never live someplace too hot and humid... or which has to deal with the dangers of Hurricanes....
