I wouldn't mind who wins the Georgia senate vote but for one thing.

Mitch McConnell. That man has blocked bipartisan initiatives, court appointments, budgets etc...etc... etc... No one person should ever have that kind of power, even the president of the United States can have a veto overridden but there is no getting around Mitch. He has done more damage to this country and how congress should work than any foreign enemy could dream of doing. Get rid of him, change the rules so future majority leaders have no such power and while you're at it go to the wing next door and clip the speaker's feathers a bit.

    Really?
Pelosi blocked $1.8T aid package, that included stimulus payouts and unemployment assistance. The Republican senate already passed it, Trump said he’ll sign it. In September Pelosi blocked it because it wasn’t as big as what she wanted - $2.2T. Now she is promoting new stimulus that is half of what Republicans proposed and passed in favor of a package that is under $1T. All she needs to do is pass the stimulus that Mitch already passed! Think about it - Republicans won’t stop $1.8T, all she needs is to bring the package to a vote!

Jeez! It’s all Mitch! Yeah, right!

A bit confused? McConnell wouldn’t bring the 1.8t package up in the Senate. It was “too much money” and he didn’t have the votes. McConnell said 20-odd Republican Senators opposed it.

Meadows was involved which typically means certain death of legislation.

The package was negotiated by Munchin and Pelosi and supposedly had Trump’s support. Republican’s haven’t been in the Covid negotiations (by choice).

The initial cares package was the only one that passed in the Senate.

    Yeah. Think about it.

You are confused. Mitch McConnell is not acting alone, it's a majority of the Senate, acting in concert.

Nancy Pelosi did block any chance of a stimulus check to the American people. She did everything she could to hurt Trump.

The first cares package only passed in the form it did because five Republican Senators were in quarantine from either having or being exposed to the virus. Moscow Mitch allowed the bill to the floor but was short Republican votes when it mattered, allowing the Democrats to vote in things like the $1200 stimulus checks that most Americans received.

Moscow Mitch huh? Ok, so it's Beijing Biden going forward. Now, why quibble about Beijing Nancy standing up and blocking aid to the very businesses her policy shut down? No?

A majority in the Senate representing a minority of the people. The US fought the Revolutionary War over just an imbalance in power. Maybe this time we could just make the changes necessary to make the representation in government more equitable.

McConnell was well aware of the many contacts that were occurring between Russian operatives and the Trump campaign. He urged Obama not to make light of it, because to do so would be seen as playing dirty politics. When congress tried to pass legislation protecting the integrity of our elections, especially against interference from hostile countries such as Russia, McConnell blocked the legislation. When the Trump got caught attempting to extort the president of the Ukraine in a Russian hatched plan, Mitch McConnell led the way to prevent the Trump from facing justice.

Luckily for the cause of justice and sanity, the majority of the voters in America have voted out of office the most corrupt and inept president that we have ever had. Watching the Trump squirm in denial only makes its legacy even more pathetic than it already was.

The Trump is history. The majority of the people have decided that the Trump is unfit to hold office.

I feel like the 6-3 SCOTUS is safe (for my pet issue of being against gun control). There are enough old time Dems that are against expanding the court, that it won’t happen. So with that said, I hope the Dems win the Senate for one reason, legalizing marijuana. The GOP refuses to get in board with this. If anything, taking a couple puffs of Mary Jane is less harmful than getting stone cold drunk. People can function with a slight high, whereas going about your day drunk as hell is a lot harder to do unnoticed.

'fraid not. It's McConnell applying the Hastert Rule in the Senate. The Heroes Act (which passed the House) likely would have passed the Senate if it weren't for McConnell. So he just didn't bring it up to the floor.

If a majority of the Senate wanted to, for example, bring a bill up for a vote, even over the objection of Senator McConnell, they could do so. They choose not to, and that frustrates you, but that doesn't mean that Senator McConnell is acting alone. He does so only with the support of the majority. Here, this is a good summary of the situation:

    https://www.legbranch.org/2018-8-1-what-makes-senate-leaders-so-powerful/

The same thing was true of the Garland nomination. If a majority of the Senate had wanted to bring his nomination up for a vote, they could have done so. They did not want to. This gnashing of teeth over what McConnell is supposedly doing all by himself is based on misguided ignorance.

Read again: I said the bill would pass if brought to the floor. Overriding McConnell... not while Republicans choose to follow the Hastert Rule.

What you are saying would be true of a healthy Senate. With McConnell in charge, this is a very sick Senate.

Any senator could use a motion to proceed on the bill if they believe that. Perhaps you should be asking your senators why they haven't done so.
