Well, Trump is calling for reform, but he's vague on the point. The only fix is to have a penalty, like no appeal for a frivolous asylum claim or a legal presumption that there is no political persecution in Mexico. Of course, the left won't agree that there is such a thing. We should also tighten the firm resettlement doctrine to make clear that you must first completely exhaust your remedies in the first country you set foot in outside of your own. We have lost respect for our borders, our border patrol, and ourselves.
The tactic of telegraphing like this is similar to what the US Navy did to Iran last month--a way to bluster and cause fear.
Too practical, too much common sense, too rational for most. The bureaucracies prefer headlines and actions that justify their existence.
Indeed. Reform seems so much more involved than the time and effort he is willing to invest. The wall, by contrast, is an easy concept - easily explained and digested.
Just when you think you have heard them all, somebody comes up with one like this. I bet you can barely get into your emergency room because of all the illegals lined up to get their cholesterol checked and their blood pressure taken.
No, I don't stand in line. However, I would have to be half dead to go to the ER since a visit costs $5000. This is in part because of illegals using the ER for every little malady they have.
Come on. You can do better than that. Tell us how they cost us a billion a day treating heart disease.
Not really, no. Immigration has always been a "wedge" issue for the Republicans A cooked up difficulty which will divide the people and never get better because it wasn't real in the first place. Were I in charge I would try to help out the countries these people are fleeing from and let in the refugees that have come here with the stipulation that they return to help rebuild their countries of origin as soon as is humanely feasible
One wishes the Republicans would be. A simple admission of bigotry would be so much better than all this "protect our borders" crap, which isn't fooling anyone anyway.

Most everyone supports border enforcement. It's RW talking points(less) that says everyone not a tRUMP lapdog is for open borders. They have to say that, because they have no real argument to anything the real Americans (non tRUMPers) make a point about.
Wow. You make up some good BS. $1B per day on illegals? Or total of every man, woman, child in the country. Most illegals can only use ER. And then, it may be too late.
I don't agree with this at all. I'm not a Trump voter and an disgusted by prominent Democrats spreading the word on how illegal aliens, even those with final orders of deportation, can avoid arrest: Clinton, Booker, Harris, and Blumenthal, to name a few. How in the world did we get to this point? Even if Trump is a Nazi grabbing racist trust fund baby, he's still sworn to enforce federal law, and he has prominent Demicrats fighting him. It's complete lunacy.
An average of 70 illegal alien women give birth in a prominent Dallas hospital every single day. Plus they get post partum treatment. How much of those services do you reckon they pay for?
What? Barack Obama ran (in part) on this and deported hundreds of thousands if illegal aliens. He's a Democrat, by the way.
It's LW talking points that....stretch....the....truth...by claiming anyone says everyone. No, the RW doesn't make stuff up and instead points out the actual people who say basically that. https://www.businessinsider.com/oba...atic-candidates-embracing-open-borders-2019-7 https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...cratic-party-absolutely-supports-open-borders https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/yes-the-democrats-are-for-open-borders/ Deny the truth all you want and keep parroting the same, lame rhetoric.
Our policy. Simple. tRUMP companies hired them. And many do. Want and need them. It's only campaign fodder.
OMG. There is an estimated 13M illegals in country today. Make them pay for coverage. They aren't going to some place they no nothing about. They will not be deported. Ever.
Exactly, Obama did this without any fanfare. It was part of his job and I'm willing to bet he mainly got rid of bad actors like the deportation laws are supposed to do. Trump wants a useless and silly 30 billion dollar boondoggle to make us think he's doing something when all he's accomplishing is to divide us and rob us blind
Congratulations, you went to Republican house journals and found 3 articles that basically call the DNC and all the Dem candidates liars. Surprise, Surprise. You get an F for unbiased research skills.
