The market always goes bust sooner or later

That is the history going back 150 years

What was different in the last crash was the fact that government stepped in and created artificial winners and losers

With public approval because the media convinced them life as we know it would cease if the big banks were allowed to fail

But to be fair government created the crisis in the first place by forcing banks to lend in high risk minority neighborhoods

What we need to recognize is that this is a government of capitalism. It's not an independent "free agent". Every government is always beholden to the "powers that be". So as always in every case, the government is a government for the economy first, and the economically powerful and therefore this, like all the others, was a crash of capitalism.

You're right that the capitalist system is unstable, creating repeating crashes. They have historically been between 4 and 7 years apart with a recovery and prosperity of one degree or another for all, but this time is different. This time there is no recovery for the people and we are now facing the next crash, near-term, without a recovery for us. The stock market is showing signs of getting ready to tank, and a recession will accompany it, driving the people into increasing poverty and suffering since we have not recovered from the last recession. The speed and depth of the downhill slide of capitalism increases.

The reason that recovery has been flat is that globalism has moved many factory jobs out of America

So recovery benefits our enemies in china and mexico where consumer goods are made rather than America

Yes. To maintain acceptable profitability, corporations had to move to where they could get cheap labor because most of the opportunities to profit in the US had dried up. Consumer debt ran its course. The computer and computerized processing had largely done its job. Mergers to consolidate and save on duplication was not enough. So they moved overseas and abandoned the US working class that had made their success and wealth possible. Capitalism no longer serves the people.

Exactly. China is now making twice as many solar panels as we are. And they have every intention of surpassing us in every field they can. They're "eating our lunch" and the corporatists who abandoned us are helping them for profit. They sold out America for profit and some here are actually defending them!

Would it? I thought the implication is that the people who currently have wealth are good, moral people who don't squander their money. By that logic, they would be the ones who make it back. So I suppose they lose some, but since this is all fantasy who really cares?

Capitalism has been eroded since the day it was invented. Corporations are a direct violation of the tenants of capitalism. The reduction of risk plays a huge role in many of the problems with our current system.

Yes, and selling many if not most of them in America because they cost less than the ones made here

This is because chinese labor costs less and environmental standards are lower in china

This is not an acceptable trade policy for the US

The fact that many of the people who are rich today would make their wealth back does not mean that they should have to

Its their money and they have a right to keep it

The chinese solar panels have a bad reputation

But china is flooding the market in a bid to drive rival nations out of the solar panel business

    I'm glad to hear it

But even at your most tongue-in-cheek parody you sounded just like a typical leftwing wacko

Which tells us how radical the left has become

I'm actually an atypical far left wacko, as I think the right has plenty of good ideas.

Just not on things like Medicare for ALL...

And without them where do you think modern society would be and what standard of living do you think you would be living?

Well define standard of living. Corporations certainly make goods and services cheaper. And I do own more stuff than I would without them. But is that a good thing? I don't know. That's a philosophical question.

The facts are this, Adam Smith hated guilds (the previous revision of corporations) because collusion amongst capital destroys the system. If you run a restaurant and you kill people with your food, under Smith's system you lose your business and have to change livelihoods. Under our system, you don't. Is that better? Depends on who you ask.

I am of the left but the far left. You right-wingers make the habit of lumping us all in the same boat as Obama and the Clintons as if there aren't any leftists further to the left of these corporate catamites.
I am a revolutionary socialist. I despise Obama and the Clintons as much as I despise the Bushes and the Trumps.
