More pathological poppycock from Mike Pompeo and President Bolton.

Below Caitlin Johnstone rips into both for their recent statements about the election of Maduro in Venezuela which Pompeo says is "illegitimate", despite being widely accepted by the rest of the world as being a perfectly legal election.

    The hypocrisy is breathtaking.

Johnstone articulates in her article what is an astonishingly arrogant attitude to the rest of the world:

“What is the difference between the behavior of the United States, which remains far and away the single worst offender in foreign election meddling on the planet, and what Russia is accused of having done in 2016? According to a comment made by former CIA Director James Woolsey last year, it’s that the US interferes in foreign democracies “for a very good cause.””

The lack of honesty and reality in that foregoing statement by Woolsey is also breathtaking.

The savvy Johnstone goes on to ridicule this dumbest of dumb hyperbole and hits the nail on the head in regard to the mindset being applied.

It is equivalent in its madness to that old saw from the Vietnam war which stated: “we had to destroy the village to save it” (attributed to an unidentified US Army officer).

    https://caitlinjohnstone.com/2019/0...-destroying-the-world-the-bad-guys-might-win/

Unless or until this mad hatter mindset gets erased from the body politic and the media of America, the war party will continue its blood sucking way, imo.

I can't explain it but our federal government believes to its core that being the world police force is critical to world peace. Most of us normal citizens think we should leave the middle east and never look back.

Well, it was the stated policy of the neocon Project for a New American Century's as stated in their publication "Rebuilding America's Defences, where they set put four core missions, one of which was:

"...performing constabulary duties associated with shaping the security environment in critical regions" (HERE).

This is based pretty much on Cesar Augustus's policy of maintaining and extending the Roman Empire as stated below by Colin Powell's Chief of Staff, Col. Wilkerson (begin watching at about 10 mins in to avoid the fluff).

Pompeo and Bolton are probably the two most dangerous people on the planet right now though you could certainly argue that Bibi is right up there with them. These guys are actively pushing for America to become involved in yet another disastrous Middle East war that could further destabalize the region and even turn into a greater war outside the region.

Bolton especially, is just batshit crazy for war. He was also a signatory to PNAC which not a lot of people know.

The nightmare idea of regime change in 7 countries in order to implant regimes compliant to American and Israeli interests is not dead and with someone who is as ignorant of geopolitics or global strategy as Donald Trump running the show, these two maniacs are running loose and free to cause all kinds of mayhem and destruction while Americans are distracted by the Trump freak-show circus at home.

    Very dangerous times.

As for the most dangerous guys, you forgot Erdogan. He's holding back on his threats only because of Putin. If Erdogan falls and another with better relations with Washington comes in, then there is nothing to hold Turkey back from making good on its illegal claims towards the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean.

Russia warned Erdogan that those areas are necessary for its security - and as we know, Moscow doesn't speak lightly.

That's a relief. These people can be replaced. I worry about the ones that can't be replaced.

    Re:
Precisely, your post brings the following quote to mind:

“Every time anyone says that Israel is our only friend in the Middle East, I can’t help but think that before Israel, we had no enemies in the Middle East.”– John Sheehan, Society of Jesus. (Jesuit priest)

America had good relations with Middle East countries until it sided with Israel's extremist Right Wing Zionist Government over the native residents of Palestine whose olive groves, homes, farms & shops were destroyed or seized by invading, foreign Zionist Terrorist Gangs.

It seemed like with each decade America gets more deeply embroiled in costly wars not in America's best interests culminating in the disastrous Iraq war from which primarily Israel benefited:

“QUIETLY LOBBYING CONGRESS TO APPROVE THE USE OF FORCE IN IRAQ WAS ONE OF AIPAC’S SUCCESSES OVER THE PAST YEAR.”
AIPAC Executive Director Howard Kohr; N.Y. Sun, Jan. 2003

Regrettably, the same influential foreign lobbies & agents not only oppose the withdrawal of US Troops from Syria but have had Americans stationed on Israeli soil to "...die for Israel"(1) & be put under Israeli command in the event of hostilities.

Recent, repeated & unprovoked Israeli air strikes on Syria indicates its apparent desire to incite hostilities leaving American G.I.s as Israel's "American Shield" & complicit aggressors. Expanded hostilities means more American troops in the region, not fewer.

The only way to bring more American troops home is fire those chair bound chicken hawks & foreign agents who want more Americans in that volatile region.
    Easier said than done.

    Thanks,

"US Commander: ‘US Troops Prepared to Die for Israel’ in War against Syria, Hezbollah"
    https://www.mintpressnews.com/israe...a-harbinger-of-war-on-syria-hezbollah/238768/

EXCERPT "Beyond the fact that Israel is preparing to go to war with several countries simultaneously is the fact that U.S. ground troops are now “prepared to die for the Jewish state,” according to U.S. Third Air Force Commander Lt. Gen. Richard Clark.

In other words, the IDF will decide whether or not U.S. troops become embroiled in the regional war for which Israel is preparing, not the United States.

Gimme a break....the only reason that the US is constantly at war, with thousands of military bases
all over the world is to line the pockets of the Rumsfelds and the Cheneys and the Bush crime family and every other bastard making money out of the munitions industry...keep the wars going....that the way...

    Re:
I agree that the Terrifying Triumvirate (Bolton, Bibi, Pompeo) are currently among the region's most destabilizing influences.
Additionally, I am somewhat familiar with PNAC, and its Israeli "twin" Oded Yinon and feel that the same agenda remains in place with America doing the heavy lifting to preserve Right Wing Israeli regional hegemony.

Even though the Syrian regime change failed in the dismantling of Syria & Bolton was livid at Trump's mention of a drawing down of US Troops in Syria, Bolton & Pompeo seem determined to keep as many US Troops in the Mid East as possible to ensure Israel's regional hegemony remains secure, unchallenged and at US expense in blood & money.

Israel's rarely reported, unprovoked air strikes on Syria indicate that Israel hopes to provoke a confrontation with Hezbollah - Syria while Americans are stationed on Israeli soil to, once again, make Israel's war America's fight.

You're right, these are "Very dangerous times." influenced by very dangerous men in the world's most volatile & war torn regions.

    ""MAD DOG" OR "UNDERDOG"

I agree but it seems like the best informed & most ethical Americans recognize that the true underdogs are the ones with the least money & least influence over gullible & professionally deceived Americans.

In addition to America's blatant pro Israel MSM (1), Palestine's native residents are too busy simply trying to survive a dismal existence under the world's oldest & most ruthless & murderous foreign funded Occupation in modern history to finance and man a global army of paid, trained & scripted propagandists like Israel's Hasbara network(2).

Nearly 10,000 native residents of Palestine have been killed by Zionist State terrorists and militant, foreign Jewish colonists just since September of 2000 with even more massacred by foreign Zionist Terrorists during & since the Nakba.

Paid and trained members of Israel's Hasbara network like to misrepresent "poor, little Israel" as a chronic victim but America's blood & $ Trillions(3) have ensured that nuclear armed Israel remains the region's unmatched military superpower & foremost regional aggressor.

Not only has America ensured that Israel remains the regions military "overdog" through $ Trillions in aid & the regular sacrifice of American lives, Even more American lives are on the line stationed in Israel to "...die for Israel" (4) as our American G.I.s are to be placed under Israeli command in the event of hostilities.

I am not suggesting that you are among them but many of Israel's paid propagandists like to call Israel an "underdog" in a region of hostile states but Moshe Dayan was more accurate in equating Israel with another type of dog:

"Israel must be like a mad dog, too dangerous to bother."
    Moshe Dayan

Israel was never an underdog. Even before the 1948 UN declaration was in effect the Irgun and Haganah were rounding up Palestinians and throwing them from their homes. Attacks by these well armed militia groups on a basically unarmed civilian population eventually led to massacres like Dier Yassin.

By the time the poorly organized and under armed Arab states put together a force to try and stop the ethnic cleansing, the Israeli militias were entrenched.

There is nothing "anti Semitic" about opposing unconditional US Government support of Right Wing Zionist ethnic cleansing, aggression & blatant parasitism:

Netanyahu: “Once we squeeze all we can out of the United States, it can dry up and blow away”

Far more "Christian Zionists" support the criminal acts that make Israel's government unpopular than American Jews.

Yes, the various players are all moving to consolidate their positions and Turkey is a major player as they don't want a Kurdish autonomous entity on their border. They are a real wild-card because although a part of NATO and signatory to chapter 5 the evidence is that they are moving away from the US and that Trump was ready to abandon the Kurds until Bolton et al stepped in.

More interesting is whether or not Putin will intervene to support it's one time ally against the various militias that made up the ironically named FSA. A few months ago Netanyahu made a trip to Moscow and no one knows what they talked about but my suspicion is that he was coordinating with Putin so that Israeli actions in Syria against Hezbollah do not cause further Russian casualties.

If so that means that Putin has given tacit approval of the Israeli action.

There are no good-guys in this dog-fight and it appears everyone is willing to back-stab everyone else.
