As a Canadian, I can only congratulate the majority of U.S. voters for voting for Joe Biden. It's difficult, even for established democracies, to get rid of a demagogue. Trump instrumentalized fear, xenophobia and division. He also treated US allies as enemies. Even Canada, which for 50 years has been the U.S.'s largest trading partner. Canadians are relieved by Biden's arrival, we are very optimistic that relations between our two countries will soon return to normal and that our two nations will continue to prosper together in a free market. I could hardly sleep or eat while waiting to see if Biden would take the lead in PA. Once he did that I figured he had it. Did you see the celebrations in the streets in cities all over the country? It was like what happens when a dictator is overthrown. And we all know that those were basically the stakes.

Meanwhile the incoming President has Richard Stengel as head of his transition team. Richard Stengel (for the uninformed) is an advocate of federally curated speech. It appears there will be a concerted effort to overturn parts of the 1st Amendment. Not sure how they will accomplish it via the Executive Branch but with the selection of this authoritarian scumbag, it is readily apparent that they are going to give it a go. Richard Stengel wrote an entire article advocating for overturning the First Amendment. Here is an excerpt:
