The British Empire was the one-world government, which was the largest empire in history and it held sway over one-fifth of the world's population based on the seemly unlimited supply of English immigrants who ventured to all parts of the global empire and since the fall of the Soviet Union, Communists' hopes of materialising one-world government based on their ideology have been dashed and the rise of nationalism from Europe to Asia has made the world more divisive than ever and increasingly nationalistic nations around the world are no longer keen on being ruled by a single group of people and to deal with the nationalistic trend within the EU, Brussels may have repatriate some powers to the member states to avoid a complete breakdown of the economic union.

This is a very interesting thread, and the OP seems more relevant today than when initially posted. I find it disappointing that the OP was not fully discussed due to the side issues brought up. They were also relevant, but deserved their own threads, in my opinion.

This thread is more relevant now than when you initially posted it.

Do you have sources and an opinion on it that would get it into one of the first three political forums listed in here? IMO it could provoke quite a debate if more saw it.

you mean that they are too weak willed to put a stop to the invasion, in the only way that invaders have EVER been stopped, ie, being killed at the border.

Good Lord. While I don't like illegal immigration, I don't think it's a death penalty offense. I think we need to strengthen our borders and have employers make sure that their employees are here legally. The key to ending illegal immigration is to punish those who hire them. If they couldn't get jobs here, they would stop coming here. Also, we need to stop issuing them licenses. SO many people are killed by illegal immigrants driving.

We now live in a world that is increasingly afflicted with problems that both cross national boundaries, and resist efforts by any one country to deal with those problems. Global warming is one example. It's a "global" problem by its nature, and as such impervious to control by any single nation standing alone. With the world becoming more interconnected by the day, it's becoming increasingly difficult--even stupid--to try going off alone and pretending we can return to the "good ole days" before we were so interconnected. Life on Earth has always evolved gradually from less to more complex life forms & life styles. Global problems are cropping up now because Mankind is ready to start dealing with global problems now. We either face facts & pass the test, or refuse to change our thinking, and fail the test. Failure can mean the end of humanity due to a consistent disregard for the health & well being of the planet that is our life raft thru space.Passing opens up all sorts of exciting possibilities for humanity's future--on Earth & in space, where eventual contact with Extraterrestrials opens the possibility of interstellar relations. And that's exciting!

right wing paranoia. i hear that happens to lousy capitalists who merely allege to subscribe to capitalism but prefer socialism on a national basis, instead.
