And it has to start from within the community. No amount of "you can do better" from the outside, and no amount of money can change anything without a change of internal attitudes first.

Ah yes, not just a fake quote and a lie, and fake quote and a lie in the wrong context. The actual claim was made by one ideologically biased and unreliable source, but the context was for the civil rights bill. So what he actually said is, we'll give them their basic rights, and "I’ll Have Those N*****s Voting Democratic for 200 Years." If the quote was real, that context makes it unpleasant, but no where near the scandalous statement you have attributed to him in your post.

Charter schools have a mixed record at best. On top of that, teachers unions exist across the world, yet many of those other countries don't have our educational failures. That fact alone makes your diagnosis of the problem highly problematic at best.

Hello, frodly! Man, it's been a long, long time! Good to see you for the first time in years!

Well... as far as what President Lyndon Johnson said, I don't know how you can construe a statement like the one he made aboard Air Force One to two state governors to be anything other than what he actually SAID.

The context is "unpleasant", the descriptive word, "Ni**ers" is "unpleasant", and the whole Democrat attempt to use their hypocritical leveral to OWN the American negro vote for "200 years" was surely one of the more cynical, manipulative ploys anyone had heard of in decades. But, NOT unimaginable for Lyndon Johnson, the man who lied through his teeth to get the idiots in Congress to give him a "Gulf of Tonkin" resolution which created the hideous monstrosity we knew as the Vietnam War. Remember that, or were you not born yet...?

Imagine -- just try to IMAGINE -- what the reaction would be if Donald Trump said what Johnson said....

And no matter how hard radical libs and their hackers try to hide it, Johnson said it, whether the image get blotted out in my post or not. BTW... censorship of any kind, Left or Right, betrays the WORST kind of cowardice!

[IMG]. My guess is that radical Democrats won't like this posting any better....

Again, the author of that book had one source, and that source was biased. The source claimed LBJ said it to two governors, but those governors never corroborated. Having said that, the post I responded to claimed he said he was going to give people welfare and he would have them voting democrat. When in reality, he never said that, and no one ever claimed he did.

How so? Where did all these bigots suddenly materialise from? How come Trump won states that had voted for Obama twice? I think you're deluding yourself.

Racism has been fading all my life, and until recently had become almost gone. Part of eliminating a prejudice is generational transition of mindset, meaning people who were raised with the belief blacks were inferior will age and die- and part of it is transition in the things that cause people to think that racism has a factual basis.

Trillions of dollars have been spent to eliminate racism. Vast impositions have been applied, giving blacks preference in a multitude of ways.
A great number of people have been forced to "help" unfairly, and a great deal of change has taken place. Not all of it has proved to be wise... perhaps we are seeing why right now.

Now- racism is being resurrected. Not by decree or old values returning, not by white people- but by some of the blacks themselves. By criminal conduct, violence, arrogance, and hate. When a black activist can demand we give him what he wants or our cities will be burned down- he's not making friends, he's not gaining respect for black people- he's generating hate. He's validating the old perspective of blacks- validating racism. There are, right now, people changing their fundamental views of all black people, because the apparent attitude supports the views of the past. Creating a negative view of blacks in the minds of people who never had that perspective before.

The real enemy of blacks is within their own house.

    Ain't mythology wonderful?

I'm a minor god of information. Basically, all the responsibility, none of the power. So maybe not all myths are wonderful.

Anyway... we didn't spend trillions. When LBJ was doing his Great Society, Congress balked at spending a lot of money.

That's why they got the preferential treatment you were complaining about... It was free.

Actually, the 70s and 80s reduced spending for the poor, in a lot of ways.

But when we get another Progressive era, you will be quite entertaining.

Free my ass- Got news for ya. I WAS INVOLVED- saw first hand the trashing of a multi-million dollar investment in public subsidized housing rented to blacks be destroyed in months. I was one of the builders.
A lot of such projects were so damaged by tenants given deeply subsidized rents they had to be torn down, as cost of repairs exceeded total value. These were built all over the country in the late 60's and 70's.

I was among the thousands who were cut out of contracts and projects because preference was given to blacks. Good people have been passed over for jobs because preference was given to blacks.

I was the father of a son forced into busing into a troubled black school with the illusion it would improve the school environment. Instead, my son was beat up, bullied, introduced to drugs, bad attitudes and learned to despise black people. Took years to get him re-adjusted, and it certainly wasn't 100%. That is direct harm to my family. They used my son in trying to improve the attitudes of blacks- and damaged my son instead.

I was in a business that included repair services to rental properties- subsidized properties- and I've seen the levels of abuse that you wouldn't believe anyone would do.

A vast amount of damages, tax dollar expense and direct expenses and burdens to taxpaying citizens- all in an effort to help the low end of the black community. The upper end of that community, people with character and pride- neither wanted that nor participated in it, and did well because they were good citizens, carrying their own weight. It's amazing how well that simple formula that works.

The more you do for that low end- the more they want, and they appreciate nothing they get. Trash is trash- regardless of color. People who live good lives matter positively to me, regardless of color. People who live off others, who have no self respect for themselves or others- do not matter except in the ugly sense of their negative impact, in my opinion. THE PERSON determines that by their own choice of actions.
Three of the most admirable people I've known in my life are black. It's not color that makes you what you are- it's character, and the culture you follow.

IF you act like a thug- you are a thug. There is no excuse, and nobody owes you a damn thing.

The preferential treatment you were whining about didn't cost Congress a dime.

The Blue dogs made sure a lot of that would fail. It was easy, LBJ was useless at managing the rollout of a program.

The simple truth is we can do better.

All the whining in the world can't change that.

BY "We" you mean of course the people who owe the people who think they are entitled, but not obligated?
THEY are the ones who can do better- and despite all efforts to show them how to make their lives work, they simply take the money and spit on your empty hand in return.
Honorable black people are shamed by such people and they are harmed as much as anyone.

By the way your understanding of economics sucks. Congress NEVER pays the bills. The government does not make money- it only takes it from working people.
When they create that kind of preference for minorities, it's the taxpaying people who pay the bills, and whether those dollars go through government hands as taxes first or come directly from the pockets of taxpayers and businesses as a result of those laws- the people are paying.

Apparently you don't read well, or what? The government "prints" money. That is not the same as making money per this conversation.

And I didn't confirm your errors, I pointed them out.

I have just started White Fragility by DiAngelo. It is her contention that all white Americans are racist and the most damaging of those racists are Progressives who claim they are not racists, the ones who don't say "all blacks do this, all blacks do that, all blacks are this , all blacks are that" but rather the ones who claim "they don't see color."

I've just started, so I can't explain her argument, but I thought you might be interested.

Far from it, she is rather a superstar in the anti-bias training biz.

Here is a video (which I haven't watched, I confess) but from the title I am guessing it recapitulates what she wrote in her book.

One second, are you saying America is the most democratic society in the world? Prove it. I want you to tell me the polity score for the U.S.

And yes, we are an incredibly racist society. How do we know? Race baiting on this forum seems to attract Trump supporters to defend him.

Well, we can just 'agree to disagree' then, Frodly. When I was just a teenager, I lived in Gillespie County, Texas, not quite 19 miles away from the LBJ ranch. Everybody in Central Texas knew exactly how LBJ really felt about black people, and honestly, he didn't even try to hide it... after all, he was an authentic 'Southern Democrat' -- a political pupil of both Woodrow Wilson and the greatest of all liberal Democrat demi-gods, Frankie Roosevelt.

Anyway, it's good to see you again, whether we ever agree on anything or not. Cheers!

Maybe White Nationalism is not overt, but it is still a tremendous threat.

Jews suffered the worst atrocities in Human History from German White Nationalists.
    African Americans suffered Slavery.
In Korea and Vietnam, US Military killed a total of 3 million civilians.
