In 1938, Superman burst onto the scene as a Man of Steel, who was understood to be fighting not only for "truth" and "justice," but also, by the Cold War, for "the American way."

In an effort to make Superman less American for an international audience--D.C.'s chief creative officer publisher Jim Lee thinks "Superman's new motto of 'Truth, Justice and a Better Tomorrow' will better reflect the global storylines that we are telling across D.C. "Superman has long been a symbol of hope who inspires people from around the world."

Superman was associated with truth and justice, we Americans enshrined as an intrinsically American view of itself. Today's leftists, though, mostly want a "better world," one in which earth worship is the world's religion, heterosexuals are a disfavored class, racism is enshrined with whites viewed as the lowest form of human life, borders are a thing of the past, Islam is a religion of peace, etc.

    https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2021/10/is_it_time_to_deport_superman.html

Today's LEFT are globalists indeed, and their actions in destroying our historic statues and our Founding Fathers' legacy are more examples of how they seek to destroy Superman's motto "truth" and "justice" as being "The American Way."

Well considering that Superman is half canadian (it was the product of an american writer and a canadian artist)...

Not me. I pretty much despise "the american way" which I consider "the selfish *******/bully way". I'm more of a cooperation/solidarity kind of guy myself.

I think DC comics takes themselves way too seriously. I also think they are pandering to China to sell more because they've seen how successful disney has been. Here's a cool concept. Take traditional Chinese heres and americanize them in the same name of "globalism". See how that goes over in le Chin....

dems are not taking down those statues, only the Confederate ones and Jesus was not a Confederate soldier

that said, if you tried to put a statue of your religion on the state house lawn or court house lawn, many would fight it

    Hmmm yeah! :p

But as someone from another country that bit ALWAYS felt weird. Look we get it - this was the post war period mostly and it was a selling point but it did leave the rest of the world out. Meanwhile Disney - not so partisan - has sold its franchise around the world. You have no idea how popular Disney is in Asia

BTW Do you remember when “super balls” were a “thing” - small really bouncy rubber balls?

Well the joke going around at the time was

What would you have if you had a super ball in one hand and a super ball in the other

    Supermans complete and undivided attention!:p

I have no problem with the new slogan. We need to stop thinking of problems affecting this planet in terms of nations. Global solutions need to be found.

certainly, nations have their uses, but when it comes to solving the big problems we have in the world today, nations hurt more than they help.

Just as you are blaming the LEFT for changing Superman's motto now you have to know that the motto you are referring to was not introduced in comic books by Siegel and Shister but on a radio show with the intention to rally support for the war effort. The difference is Jim Lee and the people that are changing it now are actual comic book professionals who I would guess have a much greater knowledge and commitment to the character than the radio show writers of the 1940s. I remember Jim Lee from his early days working as an artist for Marvel and he has been involved in the industry for over 30 years.

As an FYI, Superman original tag line in 1938 was "Superman: Champion of the oppressed, the physical marvel who had sworn to devote his existence to helping those in need!" Which is probably way more in line with the new motto now where Superman is a symbol of hope for everyone.

I have a problem with putting the planet ahead of the nation by the government and population. Every country should concern itself with its best interests. The U.S. is no exception.
