Even hand held catapults could fire one pound packages over 50 foot walls every two seconds. I had a toy catapult in the style of the Lone Ranger when I was a child that could easily clear two storey buildings

 

What 'proof' do you require? Claims were made in the media and you can prove them wrong, if you can. It's done by intelligent and rational people all the time - but you can't do it.
