Iraq requesting US forces leave Iraq is a win/win for the US. It allows us to bail out of the situation all together without any loss of face since it's based on a legitimate request of the host nation. I really hope Iran pressures Iraq to do that. Ultimately, the US Navy doesn't need Iraq.

I think they can retaliate if they wish to. But if Iran gets itself into a billions and billions of dollars war that it cannot win they already have half their people wanting to take down the regime, recently rioting in the streets and the popular dead general having many of them shot to death. Iran will bring itself down with its own regime change by going to war with the USA.

 

Not to mention the fact that their entire economy is dependant on a few refineries that are impossible for them to defend.

He doesnt understand the region. He believed he can install sanctions and tehy would bow. They did not. This was another attempt. Its obvious they dont bow now either. Infact it backfired, USA lost Iraq today.
