'It’s Not Fair!’: Rioter Who Posed at Pelosi’s Desk Loses It in Court

What did he expect to happen when he trespassed in Pelosi's office? I wonder if those arrested are getting public defenders. If so, their bad behavior is costing tax payers money.

    What do you think?

    To discourage others.

I think he did not anticipate that the judge hearing the motion used to work at the capital building himself and takes a very very dim view of insurrectionists who use that very building as their home base of operations. The judge wants to hear the revised bail motion and look at it the issue again. They have him on trespass and theft but he brought that stun gun which is unnerving, on the other hand it was not bomb or gun like others. Personally, I would be sympathetic to a release on bail based on what I read, assuming he has no prior record of violence but he can sweat it out a few more days.

If he had thrown explosives at cop cars he'd have been released, bail paid for one by one VP Harris's charities.

Hopefully him and his friends will learn their lesson about buying into all that conspiracy junk, but this is not unexpected. They talk the talk, but they certainly have no idea of the ramifications of their actions. I knew their bravado would disappear once they got a taste of federal court.

He most likely won't get life, but even 5 yrs in a federal jail will change him.

I think lots of the people there that day had been watching the leftist insurrectionist and anarchist get away with it all last summer and before. I think they expect they might face the same, an arrest, judge sets $100 bail, VP Harris pays it and then charges are dropped. You know just a civil disobedience mostly peaceful riot.

Well he's in for a big surprise. They are going to be held accountable. Let's hope now and in the future ALL such rioters and insurrectionist and anarchist are treated the same.

Have not heard what the weapon is that he had and is charged or what he stole I guess from Pelosi's desk. He's applying for a bail hearing now but have to wonder why bail hasn't been set already we all have a constitutional right to a quick bail assignment. Of course he'd have to make then.

Nothing wrong with letting him rot as long as possible In jail, and making an example out of him. Anything that might deter others from doing stupid things is Always a plus in my book.

We also have the QAnon Shaman claiming he helped quell the riot by preventing someone from stealing muffins.

I don’t see why being in pelosi’s office should get him a stronger sentence. Sure, let him do a little time or fine him, but if he is getting harsher treatment because a politician has it out for him, I think that is some serious BS.

It's not fair. The rioters that attacked the Federal Court House for days and fire bombed it have been 90% let off and all were not held, zero bail. We clearly have a two tier Justice System depending on your ideology. That's actual systemic bigotry. They all should be treated equally.

For perspective here are the list of charges.
    • 18 U.S.C. 1512(c)(2) and 18 U.S.C. 2; Obstruction of an Official Proceeding and Aiding and Abetting.

    • 18 U.S.C. 1752(a)(1) and (b)(1)(A); Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon (the stun gun).

    • 18 U.S.C. 1752(a)(2) and (b)(1)(A); Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon.

    • 40 U.S.C. 5104(e)(2)(C); Entering and Remaining in Certain Rooms in a Capitol Building.

    • 40 U.S.C. 5104(e)(2)(D); Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building.

    • 40 U.S.C. 5104(e)(2)(G); Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building.

    • 18 U.S.C. 641; Theft of Government Property (the envelope).

Based on court filings and hearings, investigators have yet to find the cellphone and stun gun that Barnett had with him at the Capitol, but they did find the stun gun packaging at Barnett's home, according to filings. They also haven't found Barnett's firearms, which he had given to a friend the night before he surrendered in to the FBI on Jan. 8, filings say. https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2021/feb/06/gravette-man-in-dc-case-pleads-innocent/

There is really not much there to deny bail. to be clear, he hid his firearms that he did NOT bring to the capital building that day. Without that phone for evidence, they clearly don't have enough yet to justify a conspiracy charge or prove intent to do more than sit on that chair, piss in a toilet, and 'steal' that envelope and I do not think he should sit in federal prison for years based on those charges. But I sure do want to know what he intended to do with that stungun and whats on the cell phone because that might lead to more charges.

Put em all in the same cell, and throw away the key, that would be poetic justice.

You would have to ask them why they're so stupid and anti-American. Maybe the answer to your question is "they were born that way."

Several of those are felonies, meaning no more guns and loss of voting privileges.
His intent with the stun gun is shown just with possession during commission of a crime
