But you aren't right. A tax bracket is a meaningless measure. Effect8ve tax rates are what matters.

That has some truth to it, so why did you address the 90% tax bracket then? The 91% tax bracket under FDR definitely did make a difference in revenue and the ability to lift ourselves out of the G.D. And since Reagan and every republican since has dropped the top rate further and further, the economy has gotten worse and worse.

The private sector even invents thing because the government hires them to. The Military/NASA have created some things.

The private sector had no need to invent things unless there was a market for them already established by the government. Elon Musk didn't invent rockets and spaceships.

The Space Shuttle was the first reusable spacecraft. It was invented before I was born. I am pretty sure it was in the papers too. Care to guess who paid the bill for it?

    1. WW2 got us out of the GD, nothing else.

I have to do some more research to see check effective rates over the last 30 years. If I had to guess, I would say they are relatively similar.

One final thought. It's time to do away with the current tax scheme. It's time for a progressive flat tax without write offs and credits that are so easily manipulated. Not to mention the fact that you won't need to spend hundreds of dollars a year for some third party software or for someone to do tour taxes for you.

Inventions are worthless without the government protections afforded by patents that insure there will be no competition for a period of time.

Getting back to the OP topic, I'm still trying to get a handle on just how oppressed the bottom 1% are considering that they are being oppressed by 99% of the population.
If only our government had the foresight to patent nuclear weaponry.

do you have any idea what your point is??? private sector invents 99% of what is invented. Govt invents nothing although does pay to have private sector invent for them . Go it now??

of course thats mistaken. if govt spending could help we could always make guns and dump them into the ocean. What ended the Depression was FDR's blessed death, the end of his war and policies, and a huge cut in govt spending which liberals thought would continue the Depression but actually caused a boom!!.

got it!! so high taxes are actually good for the private sector? This must be why all corporations are all always lobbying for higher taxes!! It makes perfect sense!! The less money they have to expand the more then can actually expand!!! It's so perfectly liberal!!!

You don't seem to get that this is the outcome of welfare (and tax) in America specifically. There is more welfare (and tax) in Europe, but less welfare use than in America.

In other words, poverty in America has nothing to do with welfare (or tax), and everything to do with culture. It's entirely a choice, and will be made regardless of tax/welfare levels.

well, welfare is now part of the intergenerational culture. What are now dangerous black ghettos, like Chi-raq, were not dangerous black ghettos before the liberals targeted them with their crippling welfare entitlement programs.

No, it was WW2. More specifically, it was hundreds of thousands of dead young men not in the work force. It was the decimation of most of the industrialized world. It was 10s of millions of wartime jobs that led to the gainful employment of 100s of millions of people over the next 40 years.

Anyone that is using data from the post WW2 era as a model for what policies will work now are, in a way, advocating for WW3. In no possible way, is today's world economy comparable to the 1939-1980 period. It just isn't, no matter how much you want to try to compare it.

???? You don't think the people of liberal Chi-raq would be better off if they followed the 10 commandments??
????You think people who live on entitlements are likely to vote for Republicans?
