Oreally? The poor pay a 35% federal income tax? Source? I pay more than half my income to taxes. 22% gross to federal, 15% state, then 13% to ss/medicare.

Maybe it'd be easier to be rich if we didn't have this ridiculous inequality in "progressive" tax rates.

Wait, are you including the lower 50% of gross incomers? because they aren't making any money at all, so ofcourse they are paying more taxes, infinitely proportionately.

And if you're talking about tax deductions, only the rich of the rich really capitalize on that, the top 1% that make over 400k a year. And the best solution is not to tax them more, but to induce a flat sales tax.

You guys do realize in our economy the money you use to pay your taxes comes from the Government? Deficit spending is our way of "finding new gold".

If corporations are literally "steering" government (policies)... how are you or anyone else so certain of what you say?

I feel you should re-think what you are so sure of.

I don't hate the rich, I just want them to start spending their money and putting their money back to work in the United States. Money needs to be spent for it to be effective, and they are hoarding it which is serving no one any use. Liberals want to tax the rich not because they are Rich, but because the Rich aren't doing a good job of spending the money that they collect. They also require more services from the government, so they need to pay a bigger share of the taxes. A person who is living on the street could care less who if the US government falls to a foreign foe. A rich person bennefits from the laws, courts, police, and military, much more than poor people do. They should pay more for that service.

Then attack corporations steering government policies. Rich people and corrupt people are two different things.

That's a fair point, but they wouldn't be rich if they weren't investing their money properly. Inflation would catch up to them. And read my point about how anyone can be rich. Investing conservative interest of 6% (one can get 10-15% easy in underrated stocks which are auto-hedged against inflation) and $20k a year, one can create a bank account of $1.1million in 7.07 years and that's an interest of $150k a year. A man without a highschool degree can make 40k a year, live near poverty for 7 years and retire when he's 25. People making more reasonable amounts can do it faster and with less sacrifice.

The rich are already paying more for government services. If we had a flat 22% tax, the rich would be paying more for these services as well. This is 3rd grade math here, 22% of 200,000 is more than 22% of 40,000. Then on top of that, there are taxes other than income that account for the rich's "burden" on the government. Property tax, sales tax, capital gains tax, court fees, taxes on lawyers income. These stack exponentially. A 35% corporate tax turns into a 75% tax in 3 simple trades. The material miner is taxed 35% on his revenue, this cost is passed to his buyer, the manufacturer. The manufacturer is taxed on his revenue, employees, etc, bringing the total up to about 60% tax. Then the manufacturer sells to a distributor, passing this gross 60% tax on to them. Then the distributor is taxed to ship, and stock, and sell, adding another 35% onto 60% leaving us with 70% tax. This doesn't include all the fees, and taxes each company accrues for sneezing, coughing, and hiring unemployed people.

Everyone should want a pair of shoes and milk and gas to be cheaper, imagine how much cheaper it would be if we weren't taxed on our taxes. 1/3 the price in many cases. If you're suffering to get by and are poor, you *don't* want the rich to be overtaxed.

You might think you know, but I elect POLITICIANS to keep tabs on those very things. I know a lot more, than I have the power to affect.

It's not about attacks, but looking out for the interests of the American people.

Many libs are rich, but they don't hate themselves. Many libs are not rich, yet most don't hate the rich.
Many cons are rich, and many hate themselves, and take it out on the world. Many cons are not rich, yet have asperations to be greedy rich.
I, like most of my lib/non-political friends, would love to be rich and able to give much of that wealth away towards benefitting America, and not in a Koch Bros. way. I've yet to meet any con that would give a sandwich to a hungry person, nor met more than a handful that could even be considered nice. Most greedy rich attach a price tag to their 'givings', and they love benefitting from war/death, and creating more 'opportunities'. They're very willing to cause/support continued unlimited hardships and the ongoing Bush depression for mere partisan gains, AND hate their president.

    ...what was your question?

This post is comical. Why do YOU think the rich are rich? It's because they know how to MANAGE money.

This is quite simple... there is a reason they are rich and you are not. You don't become rich from spending money.

Not really. The rich are rich because they have the capital and resources to remain rich. Paris Hilton isn't some financial wizard but she is filthy rich. People who are just born in to riches and born with mass amounts of resources aren't financial geniuses yet they carry on with tremendous amounts of wealth.

It is a complete cop out to say that all wealthy people are wealthy because they are intelligent with money. I went to an incredibly wealthy college and we are all spoon fed in to wealth creating jobs. There is nothing fair about America's system. I'm not saying it should be fair, just saying there is a lot of fallacies about the wealthy and how much better and harder working they are than the poor.

Some of us have never lifted a shovel or done a hard days labor in our lives yet we make 3-4 times more than the hardest workers in America.

A man who makes $40k a year is 12 years from retirement if he does one thing, save money.

The only difference between the rich and the poor, is that the rich saved their money and the poor haven't or won't. It doesn't take a spark of genius to save money, it takes discipline.

This makes all that baloney about people who are born into their riches (about 1 in a million), pretty irrelevant. Why do YOU care what someone ELSE does with THEIR money, in the first place?

Get this, 80% of people DON'T have a savings. They live paycheck to paycheck. Those are the greedy ones, and those are the poor ones.

Lol, what? The point is the rich don't all have financial backgrounds and save money. The rich own (*)(*)(*)(*), like land, businesses, or have entertainment value.

All I'm saying is people that own real resources and capital have a distinct advantage over those who don't and they will be rich the rest of their lives, their children will be rich, etc... with out ever having to produce a single thing.

If I made $40k for 12 years, I would be depressed, not rich.

Yes, they do own (*)(*)(*)(*), because they saved up and bought it. And it was a smart investment because now they can sit on their ass all day while the undisciplined paycheck to paychecker is working 9-5. It sounds like to me you are suggesting that wealth creation does not require investing, aka owning, capital. Guess what the definition of capital is.

They do have an advantage owning capital, that is how wealth is created, through CAPITALism. There is no other way. If they are leasing their capital they are producing, if they are not leasing it they are on their way to poverty.

If you made $40k for 12 years and saved half of it every year and put it into a conservative security of 6% interest you'd be making 150k in interest in 12 years. You could retire when you were 30 if you started when you were 18. If retiring makes you depressed, go ahead and be poor all your life and complain about those who played their money right.

I said 40k simply to make an example of how poor you can be and still become rich. That apparently was lost with you.

You apparently missed my point... but I shouldn't expect less. I didn't say people couldn't get rich by saving money and being prudent financially... I just said not all rich people are rich because of hard work, saving money, and being financial geniuses.

Because the rich are the ones that take the money from the people, exploting them for their own profit. Underemploying them.

The governent collects in taxes, true. But in theory(the practice not), it goes back to the people in services.

The state takes more from it's subjects than any corporation. A consumer can refuse to purchase a product or service, but they can't refuse to pay tax or be subjected to idiotic laws.

The government is a monopoly, they have a monopoly on violence and "justice." Without government, large corporations couldn't exist.

Whens the last time a rich man pointed a gun at someone and said buy this product? Probably been a while. Whens the last time the IRS raided a house with armed weapons to repo tax money? Probably within the last few hours. The government takes, not the business. If you can find a way to force people to buy something you are a economical genius, but the states got that covered allready.

And when you buy a good, you are not robbed of any wealth at all. If you bought it at market price your wealth has only increased. If you're buying things that do not increase your perception of wealth, or overpaying for such things, good riddance.

Theres nothing wrong with taxes. Until the person paying it does not benefit for it's collection. I.e. redistribution of wealth.

So if I come up to a lemonade stand and tell the owner that I want to work for him and he ends up hiring me and paying me the wage that both of us mutually agreed to in a contract and he ends up paying me that amount....he is somehow exploiting me for his own profit?

    Your view is quite delusional.

No it isn't. My view is based in the history, and what we are living now in Spain, and many others countries. My view is based in the fact that the workers are losing adquisitive power in many ways, while the rich, the employers are becoming richer.

Maybe you should try communism? lol

It's astonishing really, that one can live in a socialist country...be unhappy with the results...and blame the rich. It's your country that is (*)(*)(*)(*)ing you over, not the rich. Perhaps a portion of the rich had something to do with it, but socialism is the problem not the rich.

Live in a socialist country? Who lives in a socialist country?

Ah... are you refering to me?... Do you sincerely believe that Spain is a socialist country, hahahaha don't make me laugh.

And yes, the results are thanks to neoconservative policies, that ones that favour the rich, so I can blame to them and government for being so servicial to them, the corporations.

Sorry, but the problem in Spain are the rich.

Sorry to disappoint you but it's not just spain, the problem with the world is the rich.
By definition, being rich you have more than you need, and most do although most cry poor mouth.
They like to be rich because of their personal ineptitude. If they can't employ people to cheat for them, lie for them, dump their rubbish, cook their meals, make their beds then they are lost.

We will never change their minds while ever they are detached from reality.

They are just idiots, and a lot of them commented here.

Your all just greedy people and when your ivory castles all come tumbling down, I with my worn out shoes will walk all over you. I have done it before and look forward to doing it again.
If you have ONE slice of bread left over, and you do not share it, you deserve EVERYTHING that WILL happen to you.

    karma
